In 1997, he was signed as a backup singer to a studio called phynix in Ibadan, Oyo State as well as a one-man band. He also had a musical group while in the Univeristy (University of Ibadan).
The son of late film maker Adeyemi Afolayan and brother to accomplished actors, Kunle and Aremu Afolayan is channelling every faction of his talents into becoming a well-rounded artiste.
Driven not by the need to supplement his acting earnings with music but mainly by passion for the art; Gabriel isn't cowed by the presence of other established or upcoming artistes; with African soul as his chosen genre of music, the debutante is rather focused on creating a niche for himself in the burgeoning industry and breaking more grounds.
