Helicopter Crashes in Bayelsa State with Prominent Nigerians On Board

Tragedy has struck again as news reaching us says a helicopter belonging to the Nigerian Navy has crashed in Bayelsa state. The crash occurred in a swampy location near Okoroba community in Nembe local government area of the state.

Although details of the casualty figure are still vague, it is feared that there are no survivors of the air mishap. It was gathered that the chopper was carrying some prominent Nigerians who were headed to Port Harcourt after attending the burial ceremony of the father of President Jonathan’s aide, Mr. Oronto Douglas.

It is believed that the former National security Adviser, General Andrew Azazi and Kaduna State Governor, Patrick Yakowa were on board and reports says no one survived.

  18. They all flew from Nembe to Yenagoa which is a short trip. This is how all the past and present Governors of Bayelsa state have failed their people by failing to construct pliable routes. The terrain is so swampy and it's the common people who ply the swamps while the high and mighty take to the air. Will they do anything about it? I very much doubt it.

Sabotage? In Nigeria, anything is possible.

    God, please console their families.

  23. This is the product of poor states of our roads and insecurity. If only we had good roads, they would have driven to Bayelsa and take a good boat to and fro the funeral ceremony. Government should begin to redirect their thinking to things of importance. Anyway, may there souls Rest in Peace.

  24. may their souls RIPP, Amen. But we keep losing thousands of people on our deplorable road, yet no call for national interest. Any time politians dies, it is a big news but when it concerns d ordinary man nothing is heard about it. Lets change our orientation. God bless Nigeria.
