President Goodluck Jonathan this morning has signed the 2014 budget into law. According to the Ministry of Finance, the signing followed the completion of statutory legislative processes.
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, will brief journalists later today about it.
Omotola Jalade Ekeinde on the 14th of May touched down at the Ercan International airport, Northern Cyprus. The UN ambassador and Activist was heading to the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) where she was billed as a special guest and speaker at the school's career fest.

Students OF OAU yesterday seized a Toyota bullet proof SUV with ‘Presidency’ inscription and registration number, FG902-B02 for trying to drive in between them while they were protesting an increase in their tuition fees.
According to them, security details attached to the convoy shot to scare protesters but two students were wounded in the process.
The vehicle was later seized by students who surrounded it and said they demand an apology. It will be recalled that, the protest started when students alleged that their fees have been increased from N17,000 to over N100,000. More pictures from the protest after the cut.

A 52-year old man, Onyejiaju Augustine from Imo State has been arrested by NDLEA officials at the
Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, while trying to smuggle 2.605kg of cocaine carefully and neatly packed as candies.
Onyejiaju who had been on the list of wanted smugglers, was eventually caught during the screening of passengers enroute Etihad.
He described his arrest as unfortunate and said he was unlucky his trick was unravelled.
A baby that was found alive this morning in a garbage area beneath a bridge located at Yaya Abatan road, before Haruna bus stop in Agege/Ogba area has died a few minutes after he was found.
His cry attracted people (including an LL reader, who sent in the pictures), but he died a few minutes before help could reach him. I just think no one has a right to abandon a baby to die. What happened to motherless babies homes? Really sad. More pictures below.
Michael Olukoya, the president of Nigeria Union of Teachers has directed all its members across the country to sit at home today, Thursday, May 22, 2014 in protests of the over 200 missing chibok school girls. Mr Micheal Olukoya also said 173 teachers have been killed in Borno and Yobe States since the beginning of Boko Haram insurgency.
He also noted that the union will also hold #BringBackOurGirls rallies, simultaneously, across the 36 Nigerian States of the federation today.
All public schools across the country will be closed, as the day will be NUT’s day of protesting the abduction of the girls, as well as the murder of 173 teachers, Mr Michael said.
Two New York City fourth-graders, ages 9 and 12 have been arrested for allegedly poisoning their teacher's water bottle, causing her to feel nauseated the next day.
Though now in good condition after being treated at the hospital, the poison in the water is being tested in a lab to determine its content, but it appears to be a rat poison, police have said.
Both young boys have been charged with attempted second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon.

The State Commissioner for Education, Mrs Olayinka Oladunjoye, today announced that the State had commenced pilot teaching and learning of Chinese (Mandarin) Language in five Lagos State schools.
The schools who have started teaching this language are Bolade Junior Grammar School, Oshodi and Ikeja Junior Grammar School, Immaculate Heart Comprehensive Junior High School, Maryland/Mende Junior High School and New Era Junior Girls School, Surulere.

Bomb blasts this afternoon has occurred near Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) area inside the Terminus Market near Murtala Mohammed way, in Jos city killing at least 200 people. Heavy explosions were heard around 2:55pm this afternoon when the bombs exploded few minutes apart.
The vehicles used for the explosions were a Peugeot J5 van, with registration number XG 148 BLD, while the second vehicle was a Toyota van, with a Gombe state license plate number.
According to SaharaReporters, the second car, a Toyota Sienna van, had been abandoned since 6 AM Tuesday morning. At least five residents had informed police officials, suspicious of the mysteriously van parked in their area, but no police arrived at the scene, and nothing was done until the car exploded some hours afterwards. The car “exploded,” after a beeping sound was heard from curious local residents. More pictures after the cut. This is really really sad.
Governor Amaechi hosted Dele Momodu who recently was a year older and his family in Rivers State. They took out time to specially pray for Nigeria, and Mr Momodu says the prayers were indeed hot and was led by his wife.
