Michelle Martens told police that she had set up encounters with at least three men to sexually assault her daughter, Victoria Martens, the Albuquerque Journal reported.
Michelle, 35, told investigators that one of the men was a co-worker. Two others she met online, including Fabian Gonzales, 31. He was to be the last.
Michelle, Gonzales, and Jessica Kelley, a cousin of Gonzales all face charges in connection with Victoria Martens' death.
Police found Victoria's dismembered body last month inside the apartment she shared with her mother. On the day Victoria was going to celebrate her 10th birthday, she was found murdered in her family's apartment in New Mexico by police.
Her dismembered body was found wrapped in a burning blanket.
Officers who responded to the Arroyo Villas Apartment Complex on Irving Boulevard came upon a gruesome crime scene in the bathroom, said Albuquerque Police Chief Gorden Eden.
'This is a horrific tragedy for our community,' Eden told reporters. 'I want to assure the public that we will pursue justice and we will make sure that we exhaust every resource into this investigation.'
Police said Victoria was injected with methamphetamine, sexually assaulted, strangled and stabbed before being dismembered.
