Xmas Giving! Girl Spends Her Birthday Money On Soup & Hot Drinks For The Homeless [Photos]

She's a queen! A nine-year-old girl spent her birthday money on helping homeless people this Christmas. Molly McGinley headed straight out with her mum when she received her birthday money to buy food and drink for rough sleepers.

She met Margaret Smith, a rough sleeper who has been homeless for a year in Manchester city centre.

When Margaret, 23, was the same age as the child who had shown her kindness, she lived with her
family and thought she’d grow up to be a singer.

But, after an unlucky few years, she instead finds herself on the streets in bitter weather.

“It’s been so cold my socks have gone hard”, she said.

Molly was with her mum Janine Kenny when she saw first-hand the hard realities people face on the streets.

“I was walking down the street and I saw all these people giving loads of food to homeless people.
Also I heard a couple of people at school were doing it.

“So I asked my mum if I could do it and she said yes. So we got some hot drinks and soup and food and gave it to Margaret.

“I did it with my birthday money and I do think everybody should do something like that to help.

"It’s sad in winter, it’s really cold. Today my mum told me to get a coat and I didn’t and now I’m freezing and I had to go and buy a hat but some people can’t do that.”
