Photo: Catholic Priest Who Resigned Six Months Ago Set To Wed

A former Catholic priest, Rev. Patrick Henry Edet, has fixed March 17 for his marriage to his fiancée who he would unveil next week. Edet made the disclosure on Tuesday during his Grace Family service.

Edet’s resignation from Catholic Church about six months ago has generated a lot of discourse.

The popular Uyo-based priest and radio preacher, while addressing his radio audience on Planet 101.1FM, Uyo, said then that “the resignation marked the beginning of ‘freedom’ for his spirit and soul”.

He said: “From today henceforth, I cease to be a Catholic priest, in my spirit and in my soul. I forgive those who will criticise me, I live for God. I seek freedom for my soul. As I leave, I leave smiling. I am so happy that I am free.”

While expressing his joy, Edet said he should be addressed as Rev Patrick Edet.

Edet, who hosts a weekly Christian programme entitled: “Grace and Inspiration,” on Planet 1010.1FM, Akwa Ibom State, added that there was no need for him to continue with the Catholic Church because peace deserted him while he was there.

He said after 11 long years, he strongly felt the need to leave, because he was feeling boxed in and it was affecting his personal relationship with God. He said leaving was the best thing, as he was now finally free.

    1. how on earth is this your problem? why are you hating? how do you know he is sex hungry? Even if he is, Sex was created by God, to be enjoyed by men. And his decision to be celibate or not is not your business. stop cursing people, Learn to use kind words and learn to respect individual decisions.

  3. At least he is being true to himself and being happy. Unlike some of those Catholic priest that have sexually assaulted young boys etc and they will continue preaching, knowing the evil they have done. He has made a good decision, it is well with him and I'm very happy for him too.
