The police at Area M Command, Idimu,  led by the ACP Austines Akika has ordered the arrest of a popular pastor, Victor Tobore for fraud after he used about N5m belonging to teachers to run a failed church in Lagos.

P.M Express reports that Pastor Tobore reportedly defrauded the staff of Webminister College Idimu to the tune of N5m, being the money contributed by the school staff cooperative for several years.

FUTA 200 Level Student Killed By Hit And Run Driver

A 200 level student of the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA Ondo state, Deborah Olajide has been killed by a hit and run driver on her way from vigil.

The deceased who was a first class student of the department of Food Science Technology FST was said to have been knocked down by the driver of a vehicle.

Her lifeless body was discovered early in the morning around AKAD area, Akure metropolis along the Express-way by her colleague who live off campus.

Report had it that the deceased who left the vigil for her residence was knocked down by the driver who was coming on a top speed and in an attempt to avoid the speed breakers in front of the institution rammed into the deceased. It could not be confirmed if she was the only one that left the vigil before daybreak. Her corpse has been deposited at the Mortuary of the state Specialist hospital in Akure.

Army Arrests Masterminds Of Taraba Killings

The Nigerian Army said it has arrested the masterminds of killings in Taraba State. The army said its troops on the ongoing Exercise Ayem Akpatuma, last Friday, arrested two persons, Mr Danasebe Gasama and Mr Danjuma a.k.a. American in connection with the killings and uprising in Takum and Ussa Local Government Area of Taraba State.

Army spokesman, Brigadier General Texas Chukwu, in a statement, Saturday morning, said the two suspects were arrested at Takum “following an intelligence that they were the coordinators of several attacks both on Fulani and the locals.”

EFCC Loses Bid To Seize Patience Jonathan’s $8.4m And N7.35bn

The Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday rejected an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission seeking the temporary forfeiture of funds in 15 bank accounts linked to Mrs. Patience Jonathan.

The funds, which the EFCC sought to seize, include a total of $8,435,788.84  and over N7.35bn kept in 15 bank accounts opened in the name of Patience, five companies and one Esther Oba.

Patience, Oba and the five firms were listed as respondents in the ex parte application, which the EFCC filed pursuant to Section 17 of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act No. 14, 2006 and Section 44(2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution.

Court Sentences Policeman To Death For Culpable Homicide

The High Court sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa State capital, has sentenced a police sergeant, Vincent Manu, to death for unlawfully killing a businessman, late Stephen Anakwe, and labelling him an armed robber.

Manu was arraigned alongside other five policemen; Inspector Danladi Lenkem; Inspector Edula Ateku, who died in the course of the trial; Samson Magga, a corporal; Musa Audu, also a corporal, as well as Christopher Maikasuwa, on one count charge of criminal conspiracy to kill the deceased while they were on patrol duty.

The presiding judge, Justice James Abundega, who found Manu guilty of killing the deceased, said the prosecution was able to prove with cogent circumstantial evidence that the convict intentionally killed the deceased.

US, UK, France Strike Syrian Chemical Weapon Sites

The US, UK and France launched strikes against targets at three sites in Syria in the early hours of Saturday morning, following a week of threats of retaliation for an alleged chemical weapons attack on civilians in the Damascus enclave of Douma.

"I ordered the United States armed forces to launch precision strikes on targets associated with the chemical weapon capabilities of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad," Trump said late Friday at the White House.

The strikes were launched at 9 p.m. ET, as most of Europe and the Middle East was shrouded in darkness. Photos showed missiles streaking over the night sky in Syria, and witnesses told CNN they heard explosions in the capital Damascus as Trump was making his address.

Offa Robbery: Police Reveal 12 Arrested Suspects, Recover Phones, Other Exhibits

The police have revealed the identities of 12 suspects who were arrested for alleged connection to the last Thursday’s robbery in Offa, Kwara State.

Armed robbers stormed the community the afternoon of April 5, killing 17 people and raiding five banks. Eight police officers at Owode Division, Offa, were also killed in the attack, and the robbers made away with police arms and ammunition.

The police arrested seven suspects within the first two days of the attack, and made more arrests on later dates.

Cholera Outbreak Kills Three In Borno

No fewer than three persons have died in a fresh cholera outbreak in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Haruna Mshelia, has said.

Mshelia made the disclosure when the Director-General, World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Ghebrayesus, visited the WHO’s Emergency and Response Centre on Friday in Maiduguri.

He said that about 700 cases of cholera were recorded in Baga, Doron Baga and Kukawa in the past weeks.

He said that the state government in collaboration with WHO and other partner agencies had scaled up activities to combat the outbreak in the affected communities.

South African Policeman Shoots Nigerian Man Dead

The Nigerian community in South Africa has reported the extra-judicial killing of a Nigerian man in that country.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the killing of Mr. ThankGod Okoro, 30, from Ogbaku in the Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, is the latest in what has been described as recurring pre-meditated murders of young Nigerians in South Africa.

Records show that no fewer than 117 Nigerians have been killed in South Africa since February 2016.

The Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Union in South Africa, Mr. Habib Miller, who is based in Pretoria, confirmed the killing of Okoro in a telephone interview with NAN in Port Harcourt on Friday

He said that Okoro was allegedly shot in the head by a South African police officer.

Another Aide To Akwa Ibom Gov Decamps To APC

Ibanga Etang, an aide to Gov. Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom, has defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC). A few months ago, the governor’s Special Assistant on Electoral Matters, Chris Okorie, had also dumped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for APC.

Mr. Etang, a former Chairman of Esit Eket Local Government, resigned on April 9, as Special Assistant to the Governor on Projects and formally registered with the APC at his Etebi Ward 7 along with over 300 followers on April 10.

Addressing his supporters at a post-defection meeting on Friday, Mr. Etang said with their entry into APC, the party stood 70 per cent chance of winning Esit Eket Local government Area. Mr. Etang said he left the PDP because of impunity. Issokay!

A truck driver that was arrested in the early hours of yesterday in Badagry area of Lagos State, has said he drives a truck by day and turns to a robber at night, “but I do not carry gun” he said.

He was nabbed after a foiled robbery operation and an attempt to rape his female victim.

The suspect, Yusuf, as gathered, scaled the fence into the building at about 1a.m., after which he entered one of the apartments where he dispossessed a woman of her valuables.

Not done, he proceeded to another apartment where he met a woman identified as Mrs Akanbi.

Herdsmen Kill 25 People In Taraba

Suspected Fulani herdsmen on Wednesday killed 25 people in Taraba State.  The presence of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris and a military probe panel in the state did not deter the marauding herdsmen from carry out their onslaught on people of the state.

The herders killed 25 residents of Jandeikyula village in Wukari local government area on Wednesday night.

The spokesman of the Taraba State police command, David Misal, confirmed the killings. Speaking to The Nation on Thursday, the state Governor, Darius Ishaku, said he did not sleep on Wednesday night when he received news of the killings.

Bomb Exposure Rocks Stadium During Live Match

A bomb killed at least five spectators at a football match in southern Somalia, police and a lawmaker said today, the first time an explosion has targeted a stadium.

The blast went off in the port town of Barawe, in the Lower Shabelle region, when residents were watching a football match on Thursday afternoon.

"The bomb killed five people and injured a dozen others in the football field. All the casualties were from the onlookers," Mahad Dhoore, a lawmaker said.

Police officer Mohamed Aden said the al Qaeda-linked al Shabaab group was suspected of being behind the attack and put the number of dead at four and wounded at 12.

US Embassy Fired 32 Staffs For Sharing Pornography

The United States Embassy in Phnom Penh has fired 32 non-diplomatic staff members who were allegedly caught exchanging pornographic images and video, including of minors.

Four sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Reuters the content was shared in a Facebook Messenger group and that some of it featured people under the age of 18.

The 32 fired staff members are reportedly Cambodians and Cambodian-Americans and were employed mostly as guards or clerical staff.

According to Reuters, the group chat in question was discovered when the wife of an embassy worker saw some of the images and reported them to an embassy official. The matter was then referred to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, sources said before they were all fired. Next time they won;t mix  Pornography with work.

Minna: Three Jailed For Stealing Dog

A Magistrates’ Court in Minna today sentenced three men to 12 weeks imprisonment for stealing a dog. The convicts, Isaac Saba, Philip Daniel and Ayo Ojo, were earlier arraigned on a two-count of conspiracy and theft.

They all pleaded guilty to the offence. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the crime is contrary to Sections 298 and 287 of the Penal Code.

Magistrate Hamza Muazu summarily sentenced the convicts, after they pleaded guilty.
Muazu ordered each of them to serve a prison term of four weeks. He, however, gave each of them an option to pay N2, 000 as fine or to serve the prison term should they fail to meet the condition.

Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Seargent Aliyu Malami, told the court that one Mary Adama of Kpakungu community in Minna had reported the matter at the police station on April 3. Malami said that the convicts had conspired among themselves to steal the dog, valued at N10, 000.

Couple Laments Hardship After Birth Of Triplets

A Lagos couple say the burden of caring for their six children, including a set of triplets, is weighing them down.

The triplets – Prince, Praise and Precious – were reportedly delivered in September 2015 after the couple had decided to stop having children.

The husband, 53-year-old Ifeanyi Amadu, lamented that he lost his job after his wife was delivered of the triplets.

Ifeanyi, an indigene of Ukpo town, in the Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, said their condition was worsened after a Toyota Sienna, which served as the family’s means of livelihood, was impounded by officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority in the Ajegunle area.

The Niger State Police Command said it had arrested a 22-year-old man, Chukwuebuka Nnaji, for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.

The incident was said to have occurred in Madalla in the Suleja Local Government Area of the state.

It was learnt that the suspect had asked the victim to meet him at a hotel at Madalla Junction, claiming he had a gift for her.

 Punch gathered that on getting there, Nnaji dragged her to an isolated area in the bush and had carnal knowledge of her.

A top doctor in Germany is under arrest for killing a lover with cocaine while she performed oral sex upon him.

Police say Dr. Andreas Niederbichler is being probed for giving three more women the drug during sexual encounters although they suffered no serious adverse effects.

Police believe the 42-year-old sprinkled the drug on his penis beforehand. As a plastic and reconstructive surgery expert he practiced nationwide and detectives say there may be many more victims.

Niederbichler was appointed head doctor in his field at the Harzer Clinic in the state of Saxony-Anhalt in 2016.
