A Nigerian lady identified as Ifot Lovemary, has died during childbirth. Her sister in law, Favour Ifot who is mourning her death took to Facebook to say she died yesterday, October 19th, exactly 6 months after her wedding. She wrote;

''On the 19th of April 2018, we all gathered in love celebrating your marriage with our brother, you symbolizes peace and love but today being the 19th of October 2018, we are filled with tears knowing that you left us alone to be in the mortuary with our baby….. Lovemary where are you? This was not our plans?? We wish we can wake up from this dream…you left my brother alone, you left your family alone you left us alone….death why her? Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has said the newly re-surfaced Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra has called him.

Canada Almost Runs Out Of Weed Two Days After Marijuana Was Legalised

After just two days Canada has already started running out of weed with police being called to help at some stores.

There were long queues and reports of shortages across different parts of the country with some being unable to buy cannabis. After waiting seven hours in line at a store in downtown Montreal on Wednesday, a man who only gave his name as Alexandre, 30, said he was turned away at closing at 9pm. Police stepped in to disperse the crowd, without incident.

Other people have been shocked by the relatively high prices ranging from Can$5.25 (£3.09) per gram in Quebec to $18.99 (£11.16) per gram in Saskatchewan. Before it was legalised the average price per gram was $6.79 (£3.99).

Two Ex-Nigerian Airways Workers Die On Queue

Inadequate verification forms from the Ministry of Finance, Presidential Initiative on Continuous Audit (PICA) department has stalled the on-going verification and data capturing exercise of former workers of defunct national carrier, Nigeria Airways. 

The exercise is holding at the Sky Catering Services at the Murtala Mohammed Airport (MMA), Lagos and sources told Saturday Sun that two retirees who had slumped while on the queue to get their documents verified were later pronounced dead after being rushed to hospital.

On Monday, officials of PICA had said that at least 500 retirees would be verified and captured daily for final disbursement of their entitlement, but five days after the commencement of the exercise, out of the 3,000 slated for the exercise, only 400 had been verified and gone through the data capturing.

Shehu Sani, a senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress.

The Senator in a letter addressed to the chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole, did not give reasons for his action. The letter reads, ” I present to you highest compliments and wish by this communication to formally offer to you my resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Nollywood Loses Prominent Filmmaker, Ekejimbe

A prominent Nollywood figure, Chris Ekejimbe is dead. Ekejimbe, a filmmaker and owner of 4Screams Production Company was a board member of the Association of Nollywood Core Producers (ANCOPS) and founder of notable Nollywood social media group, Film4Life.

News of his demise was broken to members of the group by founding president of ANCOPS, Mr. Alex Eyengho early Saturday.

The Committee set up by the Kano State House of Assembly to investigate the authenticity of a video clip allegedly showing Governor Abdullahi Ganduje receiving bribe, has summoned the Editor-in-Chief of Daily Nigerian,Malam Ja’afar Ja’afar, to appear before it.

Daily Nigerian is an online newspaper that published the controversial video clip.

The comiittee’s Secretary, Mujtafa Aminu, told  the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano yesterday that the committee had in a letter dated Oct. 19, 2018 requested Ja’afar to appear before the committee on Thursday, Oct. 26 at the Assembly’s Complex.

EFCC Moves Fayose To Lagos For Trial

Former Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose’s trial will most likely begin at a Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday, according to reports.

Ahead of the trial, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is expected to move Fayose from Abuja to Lagos this weekend.

According to The Nation, the EFCC confirmed Friday that Fayose has been served charges and trial notice. The ex-governor is facing trial in connection with N1.299 billion and $5.3 million allegedly allocated to him by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) from N4.65 billion slush fund allegedly shared by ONSA.

Couple Dubbed 'Fred & Rose West' Jailed For 36 Years For R-ping Three Girls

A twisted married couple dubbed the 'Fred and Rose West' of their town have been locked up for r-ping three "vulnerable" teenage girls.

Peter Griffiths, 65, will spend 21 years behind bars, while wife Avril, 61, was handed a 15-year sentence by a judge today.

The pair, from Barry, south Wales, abused the young women in a number of locations, including on a boat and in an 'A-Team van'.

One victim said during their trial: "Everyone hated them. They were the Fred and Rose West of the town people would avoid them."

Saudi Arabia ADMITS Jamal Khashoggi Is Dead

Saudi Arabia has finally admitted that journalist Jamal Khashoggi is dead after offering various explanations for his disappearance more than two weeks ago.

The country has carried out its own investigation into what happened to the 59-year-old at its own consulate in Istanbul, Turkey and claimed Friday evening he died following an altercation on October 2.

This is the latest claim made by the kingdom, which earlier said Khashoggi had left the consulate alive and well.

And President Donald Trump has said he believes the explanation for the journalist's death is credible, despite previous reports torturers severed the journalist's fingers during an interrogation and later beheaded and dismembered him.

Dasuki Laundered N2.1bn, Not Me, Raymond Dokpesi Tells court

A media mogul, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, and his Daar Investment and Holdings Company Limited, told the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday that they were not the launderers of the N2.1bn as alleged in their ongoing trial, but the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.), who paid the funds to them in 2015.

They spoke through their lawyer, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN), while arguing their no-case submission which they filed after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission closed the case against them with the 14th prosecution witness on May 28, 2018.

The EFCC had charged Dokpesi and Daar Investment with money laundering and procurement fraud involving the sum of N2.1bn which they allegedly received from the Office of the National Security Adviser between January and March 2015.

Thief Electrocuted While Trying To Steal Electric Wire In Daura [Graphic Photos]

A certain man in Makera Housing estate along Daura road , Kastina state has been electrocuted, when he attempted to steal and electric wire. It was in the middle of the night and there was no light. He mounted the pole to quickly carry out the act, but unfortunately power was restored and he was instantly electrocuted.

Residents woke up to see him hanging dead on the pole and called the police. The men of the Nigerian forced has however taken his corpse for further investigation. This happened yesterday morning.

Amaechi Calls For Stringent Punishment For Road Offenders, Wants Support Of United Nations

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has called for the support of United Nations  and stakeholders in establishing stringent punishment for road offenders in the country.

Amaechi made the call when a delegation of the United Nations Decade of Action on Road Safety and Traffic Injury Prevention Nigeria visited him in Abuja.

He said that if there were stiffer punishments like going to jail for offenders of the law, then road users, especially politicians, would obey the traffic laws.

According to him, the UN should start its advocacy from the State parliament, judiciary and the police for enforcement as this will limit the freedom of road users and instill discipline.

I Don’t Know Tinubu’s Position In APC -Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says he doesn’t know the position Asiwaju Bola Tinubu currently holds in the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Obasanjo said this during a programme titled, “The Talk,” which was aired on a YouTube Channel, “Voice of the People.”

The former President had been asked to identify the designations of certain political figures in the country.

The business of fairly-used female underwear now enjoy high patronage among the womenfolk in Umuahia, Abia, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports. The dealers of the materials locally called “okrika’’, are also recording high traffic of customers daily from neighbouring communities to the state capital.

Some of the women, mainly middle-aged, who shoved themselves around to enable them pick their choice of the underwear at Isi Gate Market, Umuahia, told NAN that they preferred the “okrika’’, especially pants, to new ones. One of them, who made selections of different colours and designs, said she and most women now preferred the fairly-used underwear often imported from abroad.

Asked if she was not ashamed being seen buying the materials, the lady who pleaded anonymity, queried why she should be ashamed of her choice of underwear.

Driving Vehicles Without Tinted Glass Permit Is An Offence - Police

The Plateau Police Command has warned politicians, government officials and other motorists in the state to desist from using tinted glass on their vehicles without proper authorisation.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state Police Command, DSP Terna Tyopev, gave the warning in a statement on Friday in Jos.

Tyopev said the trend poses serious security threats as kidnappers, robbers and other criminals use it to beat security checks.

He also warned those covering their vehicle number plates to desist, adding that the trend had been abused by misguided youths.

Motorcyclist Snatches Another Motorcyclist’s Wallet On Motion

A 31-year-old commercial motorcyclist, Oyinbo Oghenetega, on Friday appeared in Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State over alleged snatching of wallet containing N3,000 and ATM card.

The accused is facing a two-count charge of felony and stealing.

Police Insp. Ayodeji Omoyeigha, prosecuting, told the court that the alleged wallet-snatcher and another man still at large had committed the offences on Sept. 18 at noon at Sabo Area of Okitipupa.

He said the accused snatched the wallet from the back pocket of the complainant, Temitayo Ogungbemi, while on his motorcycle.

Fake Soldier Arrested For Stealing Toyota Sequia

The Ondo State Police Command on Wednesday said it had arrested a man, Abubakar Aliu, for stealing a Toyota Sequia in Ondo town.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Femi Joseph, said the suspect wore an army uniform and claimed to be a colonel when he committed the offence.

The PPRO explained that the suspect stole the vehicle with number plate, AGL 230 EH, at a mechanic workshop in Ondo town and took the vehicle to Kogi State, where he was later arrested by the police.

He said, “The case was reported at the Enu-Owa Police Division, Ondo, on October 5, 2018, and later transferred to Area Command in Ondo.

Avoid Political Thuggery, Ayuba Advises Youths

Popular musician, Adewale Ayuba, on Friday, advised Nigerian youth to avoid being used as political thugs in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.

Ayuba gave the advice while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos.

90-Year-Old Man Dies Of Shock As Store Runs Out Of His Favourite Beer

Members of Hungwe Village in Ndolwane area were left in shock after 90-year-old Ntumbu Ndlovu collapsed and died at a shopping center in Plumtree when he found out that a shop had run out of his favorite beer.

Sources said Ndlovu had left home at around 5pm, and gone to his niece’s homestead who stays in the same village to collect his groceries which he had left there.

A family member, Ethel Tshuma said the deceased was a habitual drinker and loved Ingwebu opaque beer and had no health problems except for the fact that he was advanced in age.

Anambra Bans Religious Activities In Public Schools

The Anambra Government has banned religious bodies from using either public schools or its facilities to conduct religious services across the state.

Adinuba said the ban became imperative because of the ongoing seeming ownership tussle of Bishop Crowder Memorial School, Onitsha, being contested between the state and the Diocese on the Niger, Anglican Communion. The Church, through its legal Secretary, Mr Tabugbo Anaeto, is claiming ownership of the school. Members of the Anglican Church recently staged a peaceful protest and subsequently released a statement, accusing the state government of its alleged refusal from allowing it to assume ownership of its property.

Wife Seeks Divorce Over Husband’s Inability To Provide Food

A housewife, Mrs Hafsat Zakaria, on Friday  sought dissolution of her 16-years marriage over alleged failure by her husband to provide food.

Hafsat also told a Sharia Court in Minna that  her husband, Mr Umar Aliyu, was not providing money for general maintenance of their home.

“My husband is not living up to his responsibility of putting food on the table.
“He also failed in providing for my general maintenance and upkeep of our four children.

“That is why I am begging this honourable court to bring the marriage to an end,” she said.

The Chairman of the council, Mr Victor Emuankhangbon, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Ubiaja, the headquarters of the council. He said that the flooding also affected many farm lands.

Ekiti Muslims Reject Fayemi’s Appointments

The Muslim community in Ekiti state on Thursday rejected what was called lopsidedness in the three appointments made so far by Governor Kayode Fayemi, since he was sworn in on Tuesday. The state Coordinator of the state chapter of the National Council of Muslim Youth Organizations, (NACOMYO), Mr. Tajudeen Ahmed, made the displeasure of the group known at a media briefing, after a protest staged at the Ado Ekiti Central mosque.

He described the appointments made so far by the new governor as not only lopsided, but also a grand plan to totally marginalise the Muslim community in the state.” The Muslims faithful said the appointment of the Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff and the Chief Press Secretary was against balance and fairness against the Muslim community which Fayemi promised. ” The exclusion of Muslims from the principal officers of this administration is worrisome, unjust, condemnable and unacceptable.”
