Boko Haram kills 6 Deeper Life worshippers as ultimatum expires

As a three-day ultimatum by the Boko Haram sect to Southerners and Christians living in northern Nigeria expired yesterday, gunmen stormed a branch of Deeper Life church in Gombe State, north East Nigeria, and shot six worshippers dead, Johnson Jauro, the church’s pastor said.
Jauro said that his wife was among those murdered while at least 10 other worshippers were injured in the attack.
“The attackers started shooting sporadically. They shot through the window of the church, and many people were killed including my wife,” Jauro told newsmen by telephone from his Deeper Life Church in Nasarawa.
“Many of my members who attended the church service were also injured,” he said.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack but a string of church bombings on Christmas Day by Boko Haram left about 50 people dead and hundreds others injured.
The group recently issued a three-day ultimatum to Christians and Southerners living in northern Nigeria to leave the region or face the consequences.

  3. Why can't Boko Haram harness their craft and go to the NASS or other places where these Government honchos convene?

Will they also kill Christians who are Northerners like those from Jos and Zaria? It's so heart wrenching.

If they want to make the country ungovernable for the President, they need to hit the President and his cohorts where it hurts. They should please leave innocent people alone to go about their lives.

This is just January and the road ahead looks bleak.

  5. There's another one today in Maidugiri!

Suspected gunmen from a radical Muslim sect attacked a town hall Friday in rural northeast Nigeria, killing at least 20 people who had gathered for a meeting of a Christian ethnic group, police said.
The attack at noon targeted a town hall where Christian Igbo people were holding a meeting, with gunmen chanting "God is great" as they fired Kalashnikov rifles.
