Civil Defence Suspends Lagos State Commandant Over “My Oga At The Top” Comment

Information reaching us indicates that the Lagos State Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Mr Obafaiye Shem, has been suspended.

His suspension comes on the heels of his now famous “my oga at the top” comment which went viral after his embarrassing ordeal at the Channels Television breakfast programme – Sunrise Daily.

    1. Not fair, they should fire is "Oga at the top" that hired him in the first place. Shows he too is not competent. By the way, they should fire dame Jonathan and gej himself. They too are incompetent...especially our bush first lady.

  8. With his level of education i would have thought he would have represented his organisation better , he was not articulate , lacked confidence in himself and shows he has not added value to himself , it is a shame that it came to this .
But has anyone heard their commandant spoken the old man is spent , he is even worse , wondering what yard stick their employment was based on .

  19. Suspension because u don't know the full address of your company's address??!! What hogwash. I dont know very well the words of the national anthem, does that make me incompetent or unpatriotic? Please NSCDC get your priorities right and re-install the man. What you need is re- training and reorientation of your staff so they know at all times how to represent you in public.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Nigerians, una harsh sha o!!! So just because of what went down on Channels tv, this man should lose his job? Tomorrow, na dem go full church, yet its good for a breadwinner to lose his job just because he couldnt give his company's full website address?!!! No complaints about how he runs the Lagos office, no charges of corruption against him, nothing. But suspension and people happy b/c of what, my oga at the top jokes? *smh*

  21. NSCDC,,,, TAKE A CHILL PILL JOR Suspension ko suspension ni

  22. Dasall, hmm.

Lol! What a schmuck... But all this one na cover; once the noise abates and attention is deflected elsewhere, I bet that he'll be back at his post in no time.

But... let it be known that the people are watching... listening... filming... and in this age of social media and instant video uploads, mediocrity and incompetence in our public institutions will no longer be tolerated(how did we cope all this while?!!).

Finally, I am glad those presenters on Channels TV persevered with the line of questioning; good job! But for the warped society that Naija is, this 'commandant' should never have been in the job in the first place he is, obviously, way above his station.

    Shikena.

  23. They were not in anyway unprofessional, he was asked to come and do an interview on job racketeering, which led to various fraudsters developing several websites on nscdc and charging various fees befur they can be employed, as a commandant, he's job at that interview was to discredit the fake websites and provide the real one where people looking for job in the nscdc can refer to for information. If he did his assignment well he shud have provided the info. Its just groos misconduct on his part, and the height of incompetence. And moreover, his statement 'my oga at the top' makes him sound like a bloody civilian, he's meant to say my commandant at the top.

    1. It is really funny how everybody think they know better than this man but reading your comment and many others here, one will easily come to the conclusion that you would not have done better in that interview on channels TV.
Using he's for his (he's job at that interview was to discredit)
groos for gross (Its just groos misconduct on)

  24. I'm sure he has learnt his lessons, Pls Ogas @ the top,let him be recall back to his work after his Suspension, because of those that are depending on him, his family. This also goes to every one of us that think, we know ALL, there might be little things as tough as this question in our encounter. Mama B.

  25. The average Nigerian student isn't bold enough to speak in public. I've met so many graduates who cannot construct a simple essay. Ask them about current affairs and you'll be shocked. Who knows if he is qualified but lacks confidence to speak up! Hey I'm not supporting him ooo but our system is messed up.....from the leaders to the youths there's an issue. I just wish we'll focus on the real problem here. Because after cracking jokes we'll forget and the cycle will start all over again......Shem may even get promoted sef.......

  26. The man has committed a real crimal offence for those that don't no what he has done let them no, a whole commandant of a state like lagos who can't no even give a vivid response about his line; Jobless man. He should no be suspended alone he should be sentence to prison, a lot of graduate who are competent are out their. At the end they will be the one to be interviewing ppl for employment. Mad man
