Please i need the help of your readers. Can anyone recommend a good eye clinic for me in Lagos. The right eye of my 6months old son is a bit bigger than the left one. Two doctors have told me here in Lagos that it is normal but it is not normal to me because the eye is swollen. I don't know any good eye clinic here. We just moved down from Owerri because of my husband's job. Who knows a good eye clinic where i can take him to. I live in Ikeja thank you.
try The Eye Foundation, its at ikeja....

ReplyDeleteanon 11:49. don't be daft. I take serious offense to your shallow minded statement. what do you mean by fake doctors? have you seen the child? did the writer state the age of the child? if its a baby it's quite normal. I really don't blame you. it's the fault of our govt who have ridiculed our profession. rubbish

ReplyDeleteI am not based in Nigeria so unfortunately I cannot recommend a particular place. But definitely you need to get it checked out. What you have described sound like a condition called Buopthalmos(which basically means one eye is bigger than the other). The most common cause of this is glaucoma( raised eye pressure). Although most people think of glaucoma as an adult disease, children can get glaucoma and in a lot of cases there is no symptoms until the disease has advanced. Please make sure which ever doctor you see measures your child's eye pressure; if they don't insist or go somewhere else. I would strongly recommend that you see an ophthalmologist(eye doctor) who has experience with children. Childrens eyes are not like adults and you need someone who has experience in children.
ReplyDeletePlease see someone soon as if this is what your child has the soon treatment is started the better otherwise your child vision may not develop.
All the best
you are very true. when I read the post I thought of glaucoma.
DeletePlease go to the eye foundation at Isaac John gra Ikeja. Their equipments are state of the art and their tests are so detailed.. Infact wen I went there just to correct my eye sight cuz of all the tests they did I realized the nerves in one of my eyes looked different and I had to undergo so many other tests meanwhile none of the other previous eye clinics I went to noticed. Please I advise u go there ASAP. It is well with ur son

My brother complained of his eye, went to a private hospital and was given a random eye drop, the pain still continued. Also tried a govt hospital, same story.
Thank God for locating MaxiVision. It was discovered that he had glaucoma at an early stage.
You can imagine if we were stil trying random eye clinics...

I advice you go to Lagos State Teaching Hospital in Ikeja. Formerly called General Hospital. They have eye department there. Nd since its a teaching hospital, at least you re sure you re in safe hands. They will also give you a shorter appointment to see them since it's a child dats involved. Anoda reason is yr child will be seen by the peadiatrician b4 referral nd if need be involve other specialists in his or management. All the best
