Kwara State First Lady, Other Women To Host Prayer Sessions For Nigeria

Worried by the wave of ugly incidents which has rocked our nation in recent times, most notable, the abduction of 234 girls from their school in Chibok, Borno State, Her Excellency (Mrs) Omolewa Ahmed, wife of the Executive Governor of Kwara State is calling for a Special Day of Fasting & Prayer for the nation.

The special prayers will hold Saturday, 17 May, 2014 at the Office of the wife of the Governor inside the Kwara State Government House. Mothers across the State are implored to observe a fast on Saturday for the nation. Continue below.

Muslim mothers will gather at 10am to call for divine intervention for the release of the abducted girls and for peace to reign in our country.

Their Christian counterparts will converge at the same venue, 4pm, same day to call on God with one voice to ensure the safe liberation of the abducted girls.

Whilst recognizing the outpouring of solidarity by several women and groups through peaceful demonstrations, Her Excellency Mrs Ahmed calls on all Nigerians irrespective of religious beliefs to pray for peace, stability and prosperity of the country.

She enjoins all to eschew bitterness, rancour and political bickering and embrace peace.

Her Excellency’s heart goes out to all parents, family, relations and associates of all the people who have lost their lives since these spate of incidents began, particularly the parents of the recently abducted children.

It is the prayer of Her Excellency that Almighty God will restore peace to our dear fatherland.

Mrs Ahmed hereby calls on the women of Kwara to join her at the prayer sessions on that date so as to beseech God Almighty to heal our nation.

  2. Nigeria would never move forward to success if we continue to think the solution to our problems is prayers... Lets put religion aside and fight for revolution.Oooops! Did I say revolution. I almost forgot, we are all cowards and fools that have failed to realize that yet.

    1. Bless you for that comment! Prayers are copout for incompetence. Not saying prayers do not work but everything about our country is prayer, prayer and more prayers. How is a group ever going to move forward if all they want to do is look up to some being to 'help' them without some effort into helping yourselves. We have grown into a country of 'babies' always crying to God for help...ridiculousness!

    1. No it is not you retard! We have been praying for years and look where we are. Other countries actually put in work to better themselves and continue to put their populace in a position to progress. All we do as a country is pray, pray and more prayers! We need to grow up as a nation and handle our own issues like adults! Look who we have as a president....clueless, incompetent, clown with no sense of direction to better the people he has been entrusted to protect.
