Lagos State Schools Begin Teaching Of Chinese Language

The State Commissioner for Education, Mrs Olayinka Oladunjoye, today announced that the State had commenced pilot teaching and learning of Chinese (Mandarin) Language in five Lagos State schools.

The schools who have started teaching this language are Bolade Junior Grammar School, Oshodi and Ikeja Junior Grammar School, Immaculate Heart Comprehensive Junior High School, Maryland/Mende Junior High School and New Era Junior Girls School, Surulere.

  4. Is that not Madness? the kids can barely cope with standard English and they are adding a complicated Language to their curriculum . Who will they speak Chinese with in Lagos and of what use is that language to them . Crazy people, French and Spanish is not enough ?

  10. This is an insult to Nigerian languages. Do they teach Igbo,Yoruba, or Hausa in China. Our govt is so so daft, this is how the govt killed nigerian products by inviting South Africa to bring into our country everything produced there via SHOPRITE license. Providing job opportunities there while our youths

  18. perfect, they should learn mandarin, it is spoken by a half of the world so necessary. Catch them young and teach them well!

    you only need to go abroad and realize how sad it feels not to speak any other foreign language but english.
