More On Patrick Sawyer! He Deceived Us, ECOWAS To Travel To Nigeria -Liberian Minister

Patrick Sawyer, the late Liberian-American, who brought the deadly Ebola virus to Nigeria, deceived and manipulated the Liberian government and the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, to enable him travel to Nigeria, an official, who admitted approving Mr. Sawyer’s travel, has said.

Sebastian Muah, who until recently was the Liberian Deputy Minister of Finance for Fiscal Affairs, said in an email to Premium Times that the late Mr. Sawyer deceived the Liberian government into believing that he was “Ebola Free’.

Mr. Muah was responding to this newspaper’s exclusive report on Tuesday indicating that he, on behalf of the Liberian government, cleared Mr. Sawyer to head to Nigeria even when the administration knew he was under observation for Ebola. In his response, the former minister said Mr. Sawyer told his ministry that he had no contact with his younger sister who died of the disease on July 8 and that he had voluntarily subjected himself for testing which showed he was free of Ebola.

Mr. Muah said even to secure employment as a Liberian Government official, a position that qualified him for the trip, Mr. Sawyer lied that he had quit his employment as Public Health Manager of ArcelorMittal, an iron ore mining company in the country.

The former minister said Mr. Sawyer told the same lies to ECOWAS, and at a point, sidestepped the Liberian Minister of Finance, dealing directly with ECOWAS on matters concerning the trip.

On the whole, Mr. Muah blamed the slip that enabled Mr. Sawyer to travel to Nigeria on a “broken system of communication” within the Liberian bureaucracy.

  7. Good he has clarified it. We are busy blaming the Liberian Government, whilst our Government has failed in the same why - they have also failed to secure those quarantined here. Now they want to compound the pain of those innocent people by publishing their names and pictures. How inhumane! Federal Government of Nigeria do your job -secure the facility- and stop passing your responsibilities to your poor citizens.

  8. Some Liberians are calling Patrick Sawyer a Hero on Facebook , saying he brought awareness to Ebola by taking the disease to Nigeria , you can read it on Facebook, Liberia death announcements . Nigeria should convert the Liberian Embassy to an Ebola treatment facility .

  10. This woman is the Liberian version of the Nigerian minister of Finance.

Mediocres who don't have the clue of what they are doing.

If you challenge them, their kins will tell you, but these people worked for United Nations, these people worked for World bank.

Then you ask them to tell you the achievement these people made at those places and then you get nothing but silence.

These women have no business around the corridors of leadership. These people were created by Western powers to be used as stooges. And intelligence was at the bottom of the criteria used for their selection.

Patrick Sawyer ought to have been placed on forced and supervised quarantine by the useless government being led by this woman.

The whole world is suffering and in pain as a result of the mediocrity of this woman.

  11. Nothing but a blame game.

Dead men can't bite. Mr Patrick can't defend himself now ; so let's put all the blame on him.
Useless government being headed by useless and directionless people.

Somebody is showing symptoms that he is ill, why believe him if he is denying his illness?

You are employing somebody, what is stopping you from contacting his former employers if you are on top of your game as a knowledgable employer?

Nothing but all lies to make themselves not responsible for the tragedy Mr Patrick is causing the whole world.

It's going to be difficult to stop the spread of this Ebola in a very populous country like Nigeria.

  15. Exactly @ olu Atlanta ,can you imagine such government. So they could hire someone like sawyer without proper investigation from his company. This was all planned out by the government, minister and ecowas. Now they have attracted the attention they need, knowing that Nigeria Is the giant of Africa, that international communities will be concerned.Sawyer and his cohorts are evil and he will die a million times. Why bring it to Nigeria? He lied his way to our country and we allowed him in.No flight from such useless country should be allowed to Nigeria. Here I am thinking that we as a country are reckless ,never knew Liberians re worse. They should come to Nigeria and learn how to lead .

  17. Who relies on an employee to tell u wether he is healthy or not? Na wah. If u suspect he is not heathy and probably has Ebola why not make him do appropriate test and if positive don't allow him out of the country. Very sickening for a whole country to say he claimed he was Ebola free, he jumped quarantine and of course found his way to Nigeria to infect, kill innocent people and more undiscovered.of course our porous entry points isn't helping issues.Liberian government should take full responsibility for this great tragedy and stop making lame excuses.dat friend of his who was more concerned for his friend( one person) than de millions of people he would endanger and ultimately lead to their death by infecting should be sacked and prosecuted for his indiscretion and callousness .
