APC Releases Press Statement, Says AIT Free To Cover President-Elect’s Activities

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that all accredited media organizations in the country, including the African Independent Television (AIT), are free to cover the activities of the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the incoming Buhari Administration will not discriminate against any media organization, irrespective of its role during the electioneering campaign leading up to the recent polls.

It however enjoined all media organizations to observe the highest level of professional standards in carrying out their duties.

”There is a Code of Ethics guiding the practice of journalism in Nigeria, and this demands every journalist to ensure a strict adherence to the highest levels of ethics and professionalism in carrying out their duties.

”There must be repercussions, within the realms of the law, for media organizations which have wantonly breached the Code of Ethics of the journalism profession and turned themselves to partisans instead of professionals. But such repercussions will not include barring any accredited media organization from covering the activities of the President-elect,” APC said.

  1. Ladunni, you and your colleagues should be very worried if you print lies and propaganda. If you write what is true, knowing that you've done your research well and validated your article, then you've no reason to fear.

What did you and your colleagues do when AIT were propagating hate and lies about Buhari and his family, you turned a blind eye and said nothing! Wouldn't true journalism have written an article to tell the truth during electioneering?

Now you're worried that you're security and livelihood are under threat. I don't think it is ethical for any media to profiteer from smear campaigns. Buhari has barred them from his private residence' not from reporting on him when he is in office. Even the great U.S. won't allow rogue journalists near the White House - so why are you making a mountain out of a molehill.

In the UK, the government can also take press that report false stories to court. Buhari hasn't done this, he could if he wanted.

Rest assured, that if you write honest stories, your livelihood and security are secure.

  4. To Ladun and to all friends, associates, colleagues and haters on Ladunliadinews.com

This is from the REAL -olu@atlanta-

An impersonator has taken over my name on this blog and the individual is using my name after whatever he or she write on this blog.
I noticed that the impersonator started impersonating me a while back but started doing it in full force today.

Henceforth, I am going to temporarily discontinue making comments on this blog using the name -olu@atlanta- and I will be closely monitoring the activities of this impersonator.

Whatever this impersonator put on Ladunliadinews.com is not from me.

I want you guys to know the followings about me:

I will never ever write anything against the interest of Yorubas. Never ever.
I will never ever write anything against the interests of all Yoruba leaders dead or alive.
The igbos are enemies of the Yorubas. They don't wish us well. This is my stand and I can say it anywhere.
I want a limited number of Igbos on Yoruba soil. I want the rest Igbos to be shown the way out back to their land.
The era of igbos trooping down to the SW Nigeria en mass should be stopped.

I owe no one for all my comments and aspirations.
I have no ill intention towards anyone including any igbo. I just want majority of them to stay in their region and develop it.

All the insults from the igbos will only stop once the majority of them are shown the way out of SW Nigeria. This is where I stand and once more I owe no one for all these.

    Signed.
