Dad Marries 12-Year Old Daughter Off To Prevent Her From Sin Of Having Sex Outside Marriage

Horrifying detail: Sydney's Downing Centre district court heard the girl fell pregnant

A dad has married off his 12-year-old daughter to a 26-year-old man and encouraging the pair to have sex.

The man was convicted today of procuring a child under 14 for sex after allowing the Islamic ceremony at his home near Sydney, Australia.

The city's Downing Centre District Court heard the dad, who cannot be named to protect the girl's identity, wanted to save the girl from what he considered the sin of having sex outside marriage.

So when she reached puberty he decided she should wed, and a 26-year-old Lebanese man visiting on a student visa showed interest.

The dad agreed to the marriage, which was carried out by a local sheikh last year at his home around 150 miles north of Sydney.

On the night of the wedding, which was not recognised under Australian law, the married pair went to a hotel with the father's permission.

They had sex there and twice more at the dad's home the following weekend, Judge Deborah Sweeney said as she handed down her judgment.

"He made up a room and bed... for them knowing they would have sexual intercourse," the judge said.

She added that the girl fell pregnant but miscarried.

During the trial, the court heard the girl was told on the night of her wedding not to use contraceptive pills or condoms as it was against the religious teachings they followed.

The girl's 'husband' has already been jailed for seven-and-a-half years for sexual abuse of a child.

The sheikh who carried out the marriage ceremony has not been charged.

The dad was released on bail and will be sentenced next month.

His daughter is now in the care of authorities.

Please may i ask why you hate Igbos so so much? You only make lengthy comments on post concerning Igbos or talks on tribal lines. I have been a follower of this blog for a while and I read almost all your comments. Whenever news reports of crime involving an Igbo (a Nigerian) you will quickly comment abusing Igbos, generalizing. But you don’t comment on bad news about a Yoruba (a Nigerian). Even when an Igbo does something worthy rather than commend you still say something Negative (eg the Airport woman that found money and returned) So many of your comments goes in a tribal direction.

My question is why this so much Hatred???? Whenever i read your comment it reminds me of our differences rather than our similarities. Please i beg you stop promoting ethnicity/racism. You have no right to abuse any tribe as you did not chose where God will send you to.
Questions . What if you were born into an Igbo family? Does your tribe define you as a person? Does it seem fair to assume you perform rituals as portrayed in most Yoruba movies? If my name is Chinedu for example and I was born and grew up in a Yoruba land, does my name make me less of a “Yoruba man”?
I don’t know if it was our history (which I have studied as well) that made you this way. Remember it was such show of hatred for the tribe (their way of life as God created them) that made them to fight to disintegrate from Nigeria then. It was not about oil because it was not yet discovered then it was about discrimination and incoherence. It was to return to pre amalgamation – communities/countries are built with people of common goal and behavior. Story for another day

Let’s leave history of our fathers. We are in the present. Nigeria is here and by His grace will continue to be irrespective of those drawing lines that are gradually disappearing.
Please for the sake of us that are Igbo and not close to the horrendous picture you paint Igbos, stop the hatred. I beg you. Please stop.
    Thank you
