I Never Knew AIT Was Banned From Covering My Activities- Buhari

The president-elect of Nigeria, General Muhammadu Buhari, has instructed all his staff, including the personnel attached directly to him, to steer clear of all dealings with the media, and leave all media affairs to his official media team.

In a statement released in Abuja on Wednesday, April 29, by Directorate of Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, General Buhari aligned himself with the pronouncement of his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC which had earlier expressed disagreement with the temporary barring of the African Independent Television (AIT) from covering his media affairs.

“I would like everyone to henceforth stay within his/her defined area of responsibility,” General Buhari said.

The president-elect added that his media team should be left to deal with their media colleagues as they best knew how.

According to the statement, General Buhari was neither consulted nor informed about the AIT barring, and only became aware of the matter after the public uproar it generated.

“The time of CHANGE has come,” he said, “and we must avoid making the same mistakes that the outgoing government made.”

    1. Why are you so bitter? Why do you want him to fail? Why are you assuming things? Remember that if he fails, Nigeria fails and that affects you too. What is wrong with making a mistake and correcting it? Isn't that a sign of people who are strong in character? Yes I regret voting for GEJ, by God's grace it won't be the same for Buhari for the sake of Nigerians. God bless Nigeria, amen

    1. WAKE UP, THAT IS POLITICS FOR YOU,
THE MOMENT ONE JOIN POLITICS, THAT IS WHEN ONE WILL BE TOLD PUBLICLY WHEN HIS MOTHER WAS DIS VIRGINED. NEVERTHELESS, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO STOP ANY MEDIA HOUSE. SEE WHAT PAPARAZZI DOES TO CELEBS, HAVE THEY BEEN STOPPED? SO COOL YOUR TEMPER PLEASE.

    2. Anon 9:15 the so called paparazzi you're talking about, do you have to talk to them? Let's educate ourselves a bit. If you have a public function, you can't bar media houses. However if you have a personal function, you have every right to bar anybody including the media. If the president has a public function, he can't bar any accredited person especially the media from covering. He however can bar anyone from a personal function if he so wishes.
