Nigeria’s Larry Ekundayo yesterday October 30th, defeated Ghana’s Joseph Lamptey in a boxing battle which took place in the United Kingdom in the presence of many fans from both countries. The Cross River Government has suspended indefinitely, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Anne Odey, for “flouting civil service rules”, amid a controversy over ban of morning and afternoon prayer sessions in schools.
Jude Ngaji, the State Security Adviser to Gov, Ben Ayade, disclosed this on Friday in Calabar while speaking to journalists.
Mrs. Odey in a statement had directed all private and public primary and secondary schools in the state to stop morning and afternoon devotion forthwith. According to her, the directives came from the Commissioner of Police, Henry Fadairo, in view of the security challenges facing the nation.
The state Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Archbishop Joseph Ukpo, in a statement, shortly after Mrs Odey’s ban called on the state government to immediately withdraw such directive, as the state and the students all need God.
The suspension is indefinite.

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that his government and Nigeria cannot afford to pay forty two ministers and not all nominees that have been screened will have portfolios.
He further went ahead saying, the country has been ‘materially and morally vandalized’ and that will make him reduce the numbers of ministries. Buhari disclosed this in an interview with Channels TV and Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, in New Delhi, India.
The president also spoke about working with certain people introduced to him and answered a question thrown at him over why he thinks the National Assembly is divided over Amaechi’s ministerial confirmation. Hear him;
‘This is team work I said I know people but there are people that I accept from other people in our team that I trust without even knowing them. May be those that are having problems in the National Assembly I doubt if I have met them in my life but then I am working with others. I did not work into the presidency alone. I have to depend on all the three tiers of government from all part of the country,’ he said.
The convicts are; Adedamola Ogungbayi; Olaniran Olabode; Suraju Gasali; Moses Emmanuel; Wilson Bonsi; Okaraodi Uche and Onyeogo Happy. Apart from the jail term, Justice Abang also ordered the forfeiture of the vessel, ‘MT Good Success’, used by the convicts in stealing the said petroleum product, as well as the recovered petroleum product to the Federal Government.
The judge also ordered the forfeiture of the sums of N66.6m and $975,000 belonging to the convicts’ company, Hepa Global Energy Limited, domiciled with the First City Monument Bank to the Federal Government. To ensure a compliance to his judgement, Abang ordered the filing of an affidavit of compliance with the order within 21 days of the judgement.
The convicts, were arraigned alongside their vessel and company on August 28, 2014 on five counts alongside one Padoun Jacob, who was discharged and acquitted by the court. The judge, in setting Jacob free on all the five counts, described him as a desperate job seeker, who became a victim of circumstances.

Ian Payne, 48, decorated his eatery using mannequins of a masked murderer killing a woman with duct tape on her mouth with fake blood spattered everywhere.

The police at Ajao Estate have arrested an Aba businessman, Onungwa Loveday, 31, who allegedly attempted to kill his friend, Chiwendu Sunday, 32, in a hotel room and stole his money in Lagos State, western Nigeria.
The incident happened at a popular hotel on Osolo Way in Ajao Estate, Lagos where both lodged for the night.
P.M.News gathered that Loveday offered to assist Sunday to come to Lagos from Aba in Abia State to buy a bus.

Justice Moore Adumen of the Court of Appeal this morning upheld the trial of Senate President, Bukola Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal. Adumen, reading the unanimous verdict of the three man panel, said the tribunal, which docked the Senate President on September 22nd and October 21st was properly constituted.
He said the tribunal led by Danladi Umar could sit with the chairman and one other member. He relied on section 28 of the Interpretation Act in making the decision.
It will be recalled that the Senate President had filed in a case asking the appellate court to stop his trial at the CCT, where he has been charged on 13-counts with false asset declaration.

Maria Ekanem, a 20-year-old school drop out from Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State, said yesterday in Calabar that poverty and lack of where to stay after she gave birth made her sell her two weeks old baby girl for N20,000.
Maria, who was arrested by the police along five other accomplices, said her boyfriend who got her pregnant, asked her to abort the baby but said a doctor helped her with free antenatal care and food until she gave birth.
This, she added, prompted her to agree to sell the baby when arrangements were made to sell.

Wife of Borno State governor and Founder, Support for Women, Orphans and Tsangaya, SWOT, Foundation, Hajiya Nana Shettima, yesterday, distributed kits for prevention and detection of cancer at early stages to wives of the 27 local government caretaker chairmen for onward delivery to targeted beneficiaries across the state.
While presenting the kits a one-day cancer awareness and enlightenment campaign for stakeholders in Maiduguri, Hajiya Nana Shettima said it was mandatory for Governments at all levels in the state to take the cancer awareness and enlightenment campaign seriously as it has been killing many in the state.
Tanzania's governing CCM party candidate John Magufuli, 55, has won the presidential election with 58% of the vote. His main rival Edward Lowassa has however rejected the official results that gave him 40% of the ballots cast.
The opposition Ukawa coalition candidate earlier claimed he had won with 62% of the vote, but it turned out to be false.
The elected president, John Maguguli was nicknamed "The Bulldozer" for driving a programme to build roads across the country. He has promised change and to improve on the pace of progress laid down by the previous CCM government.

Another item auctioned was a 'loving cup' which was presented to the captain of the Carpathia, which came to the Titanic's aid. It was given to Captain Arthur Rostron by survivor Molly Brown and was paid for by donations from wealthy passengers after the disaster.
It sold for an incredible £129,000 ($197,531) - making it the third most expensive Titanic item ever. The cup, which stands 16 inches tall, was given to Rostron for his great courage to speed the RMS Carpathia through an ice field at night to reach the Titanic and rescue 712 survivors. The auction also featured a photo of the iceberg that is believed to have sunk the cruise liner. It sold for £21,000 ($32,156).
