Angelina Jolie has slammed Donald Trump’s comments against Muslims on Monday. She said the billionaire’s stance did not match her vision of America. The actress and refugee envoy of the United Nations gave an impassioned plea for refugees at the BBC in London.
She closed her eyes and shook her head in disapproval when someone asked her what she thought of Trump’s stance on Muslims.
‘To me, America is built on people from around the world coming together for freedoms, especially freedom of religion. So it’s hard to hear this is coming from someone who is pressing to be an American president,’ Jolie, 40, said.
It will be recalled that Trump said in December last year that Muslims should be banned from entering the United States. His comments came one month after the terror bombings that killed 130 people in Paris, France. The billionaire has since stood by his proposal, saying on MSNBC’s Morning Joe earlier this month that he didn’t care if it hurt him in the general election.
