Olori Wuraola Speaks On Gender Equality, Says Women Can Never Be Equal To Men

The Olori of Ife, Her Majesty, Queen Wuraola-Zynab Ogunwusi, has stated her belief that gender equality is hardly achievable in the modern world. While speaking at the Emerging Women Forum on Thursday, June 16, the queen said;

“I am not a huge fan of gender equality. We can’t be equal, We can’t be men. We have our roles to play here, a very pivotal one.”

The Olori also mentioned that women should stick to their lanes and stop trying to fight for power with their male counterparts.

“The modern pattern of feminism has succeeded in limiting women of the heights they could reach; gender equality is unrealistic. We can never be equal with men, we are here for a great purpose, we have our roles to play we are powerful and we are a force of nature.”

“Relationships are suffering today, because women want to be men. You want to be treated like a queen, but you don’t carry yourself like a Queen.”

“I want you all to remember as women, that we are powerful people. We are here for a greater purpose,” She said.

  2. Utter nonsense, and she is supposedly educated? First of all, gender equality seeks equal treatment of both male and female, no discrimination, why should I or any other female be passed over when it comes to promotions? why do i/other females not get an education? why can't I represent my constituency? why can't I become a governor? why can't i lead a nation? We have examples of women who can and have successfully juggled the home front and career. Arch Olajumoke Adenowo is a good example, she designed our Ministry of Finance. Why should I get paid half for doing doing the same work a man does? How did the "gods" choose this olori sef. women contribute to the development of every nation, she could read more. these days the crop of men aren't working, dont want to work, so we should all sit back and wait for them abi? if they weren't relegating their roles we would not have to step into their shoes.

      Thanks Anonymous. You are the only one who made sense here. She was even contradictory in what she said. The full speech is utter dross.

  4. Well said, Ma'am! Women are dinstinct....They are different from men but not inferior. Of course, women cannot become like men. Can a man become pregnant like a woman? No! Instead of fighting for gender equality, women should concentrate on empowering themselves and focus on carrying out their God-given, and also gender-driven goals. Women should break hemselves free from being treated like sex-slaves by doing something worthwhile with their precious lives.

    1. @philip akinmoutu. what u said still boils down to gender equality. it does not stop a woman from carrying out her God given role, but allow them equal rights and opportunity with men. one gud example- why shud a woman be denied inheritance from her family's wealth? i support gender equality but i will still do the 'domestics', nurse my children and let men be men.

  9. Gender equality is about women fighting to be accorded the same respect and treated no differently than a man is with respect to various issues not only by marriage
