Rio's Olympic Games have officially begun after the opening ceremony took place, featuring elaborate light display and carnival lights.

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen dazzled on stage. Although some where furious at the money being spent during Brazil's worst recession in recent years which resulted to protests outside the stadium.

Fireworks erupted from the stadium while hundreds of samba dancers paraded through the stadium in carnival-style. See more photos below...
