The man who played Barney the dinosaur has taken his career in a very different direction after becoming a tantric sex therapist .
David Joyner stopped playing the lovable purple character in 2001 after wearing the T-Rex suit for 10 years. Three years later he started his practice and he now has 30 clients who he calls “goddesses”.
He says he “unblocks the energy” of between two and four women every week.
And David’s new career couldn’t be more different from his time spent on the hit kid’s TV show.
Instead of offering hugs to children as Barney, the 54-year-old now offers women orgasms through massage.
One of his sessions at his clinic in Los Angeles, California, can last three to four hours – and costs around £250.
And his clients can expect to receive a ritual bath, chakra balancing and a massage for the price.
Talking to Vice , Joyner said: “When the lingam (penis) and the yoni (vagina) meet, there’s a certain energy that takes place that hands on the body cannot create.
“Even through G-spot massage, it’s still not the same energy that flows.”
Surprisingly he even said his tantric teachings helped him while he wore Barney’s heavy costume on set to help him “maintain an abundance of joy during the process”.
He added: “Before I got into the (Barney) costume, I would pray and ask God to allow his loving divine spirit to flow through me through the costume and let that draw the kids.
“That energy will always draw them in. Children are more connected spiritually than (adults).”
Joyner finds his clients through word of mouth and even converts some he’s met on Tinder into believers.
He discovered tantra aged 20 while training in Swedish massage.
He also claims he was not allowed to teach, practice or talk about tantra while he was under contract playing Barney.
