Man accused of murdering Tinder date slashes his throat during trial

A man accused of fatally strangling a woman he met online slashed his throat numerous times while stranding trial.

On Monday Aubrey Trail shouted "Bailey is innocent, and I curse you all" before cutting the right side of his neck.

The 51-year-old is on trial for first-degree murder after Sydney Loofe went missing for 19 days following a tinder date.

Her body was found in December 2017 in rubbish bags that had been scattered across farm fields in Nebraska, USA.

Trail is accused of luring Loofe to her death with the help of his girlfriend Bailey Boswell, 24.

They both denied first-degree murder and improper disposal of human skeletal remains last July, with the death penalty a possibility if they are found guilty.

On Monday, Trail reportedly used a razor to cut himself, falling out of his wheelchair and onto the floor as he did.

Court officials rushed to give him first aid before he was put in an ambulance and taken to hospital.

His attorneys said his injuries were not serious but that he did need stitches.

Judge Vicky Johnson said Trail would have to be in handcuffs for the rest of the murder trial, which was expected to resume on Tuesday morning.

The violent outburst came in the second week of the murder trial.

In the first week prosecutors claimed Trail and Boswell messaged Loofe on Tinder in a bid to lure her to her death.

When Loofe agreed to meet Boswell, Trail strangled her with an extension cord and then dismembered her body with a saw, it is alleged.

Concerned family members reported her missing when she failed to show up to work the following day.

Her body was eventually found three weeks later following a state-wide manhunt.
