Manchester Arena bomber Salman Abedi's brother being extradited to UK today

Manchester Arena bomber Salman Abedi's brother is being extradited to the UK to face charges including murder.

Hashem Abedi was handed over to British authorities at Mitiga Airport in Tripoli this afternoon and put on a private jet to the UK, where he is expected to be quizzed upon his return.

The handover involved a special security team from Britain and a senior official from the embassy, a Libyan journalist reported.

The force that was holding Hashem in the Libyan capital confirmed he was on his way back to the UK.

Britain requested his extradition in 2017 after police issued an arrest warrant against him for murder, attempted murder and conspiracy to cause an explosion. His brother Salman killed 22 people when he blew himself up with a homemade bomb in the foyer area of Manchester Arena following an Ariana Grande concert in May 2017.

Hundreds of people were injured in the suicide bombing, which was the first in Britain since the 7/7 attacks in 2005.
