A footballer has died days after his dream wedding at the age of 37. Craig Bennett was diagnosed with the cancer that would eventually kill him two years ago.
The footballer originally spotted a lump and after initially raising concerns it was later brushed off as probably being “just a boil”, reports Wales Online .
But Craig, originally from Llanelli in south Wales, died on July 31.His wife Maria said he battled hard and remained positive throughout but unfortunately he couldn’t beat it.
His best friend, Brookman Bennett-O’Sullivan, played football and coached alongside Mr Bennett, who was known as Benny to his friends and teammates, at Caerbryn AFC.
A memorial football match at Caerbryn AFC has also been organised in his memory, with all proceeds going to Ty Bryngwyn Hospice.
