Obaseki fires ... It’s shameful myself, Akiolu and others were attacked at Oshiomhole's house

The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has said it is shameful that the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu; Chancellor of the Edo University, Iyahmo, Dr. Aderemi Makanjuola and other guests were attacked at the residence of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

Obaseki, who spoke with newsmen condemned the attack, saying it was unfortunate for such attack to happen at the house of the National Chairman of the ruling party in the state and at the national level.

“It is very unfortunate that we can’t feel safe in the house of our National Chairman. I am not sure that if I visit the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party that they will attack me the way they did in the house of the APC National Chairman.”

“It is unfortunate that things have degenerated to this extent. But we will continue to sue for peace. We cannot afford to lose the gains of the last three years. We will continue to pursue peace,” he said.

Wizkid and Beyonce are shottig the music video of ‘Brown Skin Girl’ in London.

The video is presently being shot in a number of locations across London with some of it being shot in Catford and Thamesmead, respectively. The video would be directed by a Nigerian, Jenn Nkiru who was Born in Peckham, England.

The casting team for the video wants "black and brown people of different cultures, nationalities, ethnicities, genders and ages" for the hitmaker's latest offering. Beautiful to say the least!

Girlmore Girls actor Brian Tarantina dead from apparent drug overdose

Gilmore Girls actor Brian Tarantina has died from an apparent drug overdose at 60.

He was found dead early Saturday morning in his Manhattan apartment, police say.

According to TMZ, Brian's niece went to check on him at around midnight and discovered him unresponsive on the sofa.

She told police that she'd last spoken to him on Tuesday night. So sad.

Blast kills nine children as they walk to school in Afghanistan

Nine children have been killed in a roadside blast in north-eastern Afghanistan as they made their way to school.

The children - eight boys and a girl aged between seven and 10 - accidentally stepped on a deliberately-planted mine, officials said.

So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the bomb.

Last month, the UN said 1,174 Afghan civilians had been killed in the three months until the end of September.

More than 3,000 people have also been injured over this period, the UN said.

Governor Obaseki, Akiolu reportedly attacked at Oshiomhole’s residence

Report says suspected thugs have attacked the convoy of Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki; Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu and the Chairman, Caverton Offshore Support Group, Mr. Aderemi Makanjuola in Edo State.

They were reportedly attacked while driving into the Iyamho residence of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole after attending the first convocation ceremony of the Edo University, Iyamho.

At the convocation, Makanjuola was installed Chancellor of the institution.

287 repentant Boko Haram fighters to undergo rehabilitation

No fewer than  287 former Boko Haram fighters have been admitted by the military into  a rehabilitation programme under  Operation Safe Corridor being run by the Defence Headquarters, Abuja, in Gombe State.

The acting Director, Defence Information, Col Onyema Nwachukwu, confirmed this to Punch on Friday. He said  other repentant terrorists would be joining the operation “in two days’ time”.

Nwachukwu  said  the operation also handed over “151 rehabilitated clients to the Borno State Government for reintegration in July”.

According to the DHQ, the aim of the programme, which began in September 2015,  is to “encourage willing and repentant Boko Haram terrorists to surrender and go through a structured deradicalisation process.”

Popular Nollywood actress, Foluke Daramola on Saturday led the breast cancer awareness Jog for Life in Lagos State, an annual event initiated by the Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria, BRECAN.

This is the fourth Jog for Life exercise held between October and now to create awareness about the deadly breast Cancer disease by BRECAN.

The 2019 edition was flagged off in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, followed by Ondo State and Imo state which were held simultaneously

BRECAN is a non-governmental organisation, founded by the wife of Ondo State Governor, Betty-Anyanwu Akeredolu, 22 years ago, being a survivor, to create awareness about the need to prevent the disease among women, and for early detection.

Man dies, nine injured on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway accident

A man involved in an accident on Lagos- Ibadan Expressway on Saturday has been confirmed dead.

The Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) also said nine other passengers sustained various degrees of injuries during the accident.

Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, the TRACE Spokesperson, told newsmen in Abeokuta that the accident involving a Mazda bus and a Mack tanker occurred at 10:15 am near Saapade bridge after Ogere.

Lagos gardener defiles 13-year-old church member inside worship centre

A 52-year-old man, Isiaka Afolabi, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl, Joy (pseudonym).

City Round learnt that Afolabi works as a gardener in a white garment church in Mushin area of Lagos.

It was gathered that Joy’s mother had sent her on an errand on Thursday, October 24, in the evening when Afolabi lay in ambush for her.  He was said to have lured her to the church premises where he lived and had canal knowledge of her.

It was learnt that the mother of the girl became worried she did not return in time and went on a search.

Quoting the tweet of the user, Newnaira, Adekunle said, “Don’t go and work.”

Newnaira @elvinno56 had tweeted at the singer saying, “DO GIVEAWAY FOR UR FOLLOWERS(sic).”

Adekunle’s response was later deemed rude by some of his followers and they let him know it.

On Friday (Nov. 1), the Recording Academy announced that the music industry’s most revered producers, engineers, and artistic professionals will salute the six-time Grammy-winning producer at the 13th annual Producers & Engineers Wing.

The event will take place on Jan. 22, 2020 and will kick off the Grammy Week celebration ahead of the 62nd annual Grammy Awards on Jan. 26.

21 year-old Chinese man with nine toes on one foot undergoes life-changing surgery

A Chinese man born with nine toes on his left foot has undergone life-changing surgery to remove his extra digits.

Known only as Ajun, he spent his childhood avoiding any social interaction and was too embarrassed to ask a girl on a date.

The self-conscious 21-year-old even threw away his sandals and was made to feel worthless and 'imperfect', local reports state.

Now, he has been given a new lease of life after doctors operated to rid him of the four extra toes which had burdened him for two decades.

Police declare Rivers notorious kidnapper wanted

The Rivers State Police Command has declared a notorious armed robber identified as Justice Amadi, aka Italian, and his gang members wanted.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, said in a statement on Friday that Amadi and his gang members were declared wanted in connection with the killings of two policemen, among other heinous crimes.

Omoni, who described Italian as a man in his mid 20s, explained that he (Italian) was responsible for the kidnap of one Mrs. Chioma Ewor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God and took away her Lexus Sport Utility Vehicle.

Buhari departs Makkah for UK private visit

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday departed Makkah via Abdul’aziz International Airport, Jeddah for London, United Kingdom after he successfully performed the lesser Hajj.

News Agency of Nigeria reports that the President left Makkah for Jeddah around 1.30 p.m. (local time) while his presidential aircraft took-off for London at exactly 3.05 p.m.

The departure was after all the airport protocol led by Mayor of Jeddah, Almeer bin Abdallah bin Jalawi.

The booth captured pictures of the woman first kissing her date in the white shirt - before later dressing up and kissing another man in a purple shirt.

According to a Reddit user, the DJ posted the incriminating images the day after the wedding - believed to be in America.

How 9ice exposed Mompha, Hushpuppi, Baddy Osha, others to EFCC

9ice might have unknowingly exposed, Mompha, Hushpuppi Baddy Osha to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission without knowing.

Recall one of them was picked up last month by EFCC and still in their custody?

A twitter user, @onlydotcom has now called the attention of EFCC to 9ice's song -- Living Things, which was released in 2016 saying, the commission should sit and listen to the song and investigate everyone mentioned.

The commission however says it is ready to go after them, but will need a petition in order to commence a probe against the social media celebrities.

The Twitter user, @onlydotcom had said;  “EFCC, sit down and listen to the song, Living Things, by 9ice and do your work with the fear of God. Nigeria will be better for it.”

The commission then responded; “Do you mean that (song) could be a petition? Not enough anyway.
However, the Eagle still requests a written statement to support any allegation that has been made.”

All 39 people found dead in UK lorry are Vietnamese

All 39 people found dead in a refrigerated lorry in Essex were Vietnamese, police have said.

The victims were found in a container on an industrial estate last week and were initially thought to be Chinese.

But Essex Police said it was now in "direct contact with a number of families in Vietnam and the UK" and the Vietnamese government.

A number of Vietnamese families have previously come forward fearing their loved ones are among the dead.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday arraigned 606 Autos Boss, Babafemi Sarumi over N207.1m money laundering.

Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High court sitting in Lagos, remanded the auto dealer in Ikoyi Prison. .

Babafemi was arraigned by the EFCC alongside three of his company; 606 Autos Limited, 606 Music Limited and Splash Off Entertainment Limited on a five-count charge bordering on money laundering and conspiracy to the tune of N207.1m.

EFCC To go after doctors who issue fake medical reports to criminals - Magu

The next set of people on the radar of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are medical doctors who connive with suspected criminals to issue fake medical reports.

This is according to the acting chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, during a briefing in Abuja.

He explained that the antigraft agency is casting its nets wide to investigate other sister agencies such as the police, NGOs in the northeast who carry out similar practices.

“We will extend our investigation to doctors who connive with criminals and give them fake medical reports.

Paedophile Jeffrey Epstein's body showed signs of homicide following his prison death, a famous pathologist has sensationally claimed.

The disgraced financier's death on August 10 was ruled a suicide by New York City's chief medical examiner.

Epstein, 66, was found hanging in his Manhattan jail cell - where he was awaiting trial on child sex trafficking charges he denied - and he was pronounced dead in hospital a short time later.

Almost three months on, Dr Michael Baden, who was hired by the paedophile's brother, Mark, to observe the post-mortem, suggested Epstein could have been strangled by someone in his cell.

Iconic photo of Tupac after he was shot captured the moment he fell out with Biggie

One of the most iconic photos in music history is a snap of Tupac Shakur giving cameras the middle finger after he'd been shot five times.

Fans had always assumed he was swearing at the cameras for invading his privacy, but those close to the late rapper claim something else was going on.

According to Chico Del Vec, a member of Junior M.A.F.I.A, which was started by Biggie Smalls, Tupac was actually flipping the bird at Biggie and his crew.

He claimed that Tupac suspected that they were involved in the shooting, though there's little evidence to suggest that they were.

Update: One killed, four rescued from collapsed Ikoyi two-storey building (photos)

One person has been killed, while four persons have been rescued by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) from the two-storey building that caved in at the Ikoyi area of Lagos state this evening.

The building under construction is along Glover Road and rescue workers are currently at the scene combing the rubble to rescue those trapped.

According to rescue workers, the rescued victims have been taken to the hospital for treatment, while efforts are ongoing to affirm if others are still trapped and evacuate them quickly.

An eyewitness said the voices of those trapped can be heard from beneath the rubble. More photos...

The EFCC in a statement by its Head, Media & Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, said all the suspects have made useful statements, as the investigation continues.

The WWE held it’s first-ever women’s wrestling match in Saudi Arabia on Thursday in history-making moment for the sports entertainment organization, but there is a catch.

Natalya defeated Lacey Evans King at the Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, both dressed in conservative outfits that covered their arms and legs in keeping with cultural traditions of the region, similar to fellow WWE Superstars Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss during the first-ever women’s match which was held in the United Arab Emirates back in Dec. 2017.

Two-storey building collapses in Ikoyi

A two-storey building has collapsed in the Ikoyi area of Lagos state.

The building under construction along Glover road, according to an eyewitness, caved in this evening and rescue efforts are still being awaited.

It is reported that several people are still trapped in the rubble of the building while efforts by other workers on-site to save those trapped are ongoing.

Government shuts illegal private schools in Kaduna

The Kaduna State government says it has uncovered over 3,000 illegal and substandard private schools across the state.

Director-General of Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority, Umma Ahmad said many of such schools have been shut down for operating without registration.

She explained that other schools were closed for various offences ranging from lack of conducive learning environment, non-payment of annual levies, and lack of qualified teachers among others.

Umma noted that the affected schools refused to register with the government, making it difficult to regulate their activities.
