Ize-Iyamu’s defection: God has put confusion in APC, Edo PDP

Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Edo state, Chief Dan Orbih, has said that God has put confusion in the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to enable his party regain power in the state.

He said this against the backdrop of the defection of its former governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and dozens others, to the ruling APC, in an interview with journalists after presiding over an enlarged stakeholders’ meeting of the party.

He noted that the meeting was geared to “strategise” ahead of its congresses to elect new leadership for the party from ward to state levels across the 18 local government areas of the state.

A POS scammer has been caught in Lagos. He was allegedly nabbed today at Ba ada, Ayobo, Lagos state.

A lady who shared the sad news on social media said he was caught in her area and claims his name is, Raph. She also says it won;t be his first time. She wrote;

Man buried 22 years ago yet to decompose

The corpse of a muslim man who died in India 22 years ago has failed to decompose in its grave, shocking the locals.

When the body was taken out of the grave in Attara Road in the Baberu area of Banda district, Uttar Pradesh, the exhumers were stunned: the corpse has not decomposed. Even the shroud remains spotlessly white, said a report by Khaleej Times.

The locals are calling the discovery a “miracle” and said that the deceased, Nasir Ahmad, was a “good soul who had Allah’s blessings”.

A little girl who had a stroke at a soft play centre has been crowned Britain’s Happiest Child. Freya Watson, five, won the award after amazing hospital staff with her positive attitude.

Her specialist teacher said she was “truly the most inspiring pupil I have ever worked with”. Freya, from Hedon, near Hull, suffered an aneurysm in September.
Specialists at Leeds Children’s Hospital had never seen the condition in one so young.

Nigeria's Hope Uzodima arrested in India

A Nigerian identified as Hope Uzodima has been arrested by India’s Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) in Navi Mumbai.

The 40 year-old Uzodima, living in Bonkhode village in Koparkhairane was arrested for possession of ivory and a sword cane. His arrest was made possible with the help of another Nigerian King Chukwudi Fidelis, who is also in police net.

Fidelis, 30, was arrested at Sector 13 in Koparkhairane last week for the possession of 64 gm of methamphetamine powder worth ₹3.2 lakh.

Investigations revealed that he got the drug from Uzodima, and hence the police set out to nab him, The Hindu newspaper reported.

Man slices lady's bag in Oshodi in broad day light to steal her phone (photos)

This happened this afternoon as a lady went about her business in Oshodi. The suspect sliced her bag with a blade and stole her phone. She raised an alarm and RRS officers gave him a chase, nabbed him and recovered the phone.

They took his photos and shared on twitter thus;

Alleged fraud: Air Peace boss breaks silence... I'm innocent and my lawyers are already on it

The Chairman of Air Peace, Chief Allen Onyema has refuted the charge of money laundering and bank fraud levelled against him by the US Justice Department in Atlanta, Georgia.

The US Justice Department, Attorney’s Office, Northern District of Georgia alleges that Onyema and his chief of administration and finance, Ejiroghene Eghagha illegally moved more than $20 million through American bank accounts using false documents to procure airplanes.

Onyema gave his reaction to Daily Trust, denying ever laundering money in his life.

“I can confirm to you that all allegations are false and are in no way in line with my character as a person and as a business man whose only aim has been to build Nigeria and improve wellbeing.

Michael J Pollard has died, aged 80, on Wednesday at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Michael's friend Dawn Walker told The Hollywood Reporter that the actor suffered a cardiac arrest.

He was best known for playing CW Ross in 1967 gangster–romance movie Bonnie And Clyde alongside Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway, which earned him an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor nomination.

Man, wife and son found dead in Makurdi home

Tragedy struck again in Makurdi, the Benue State capital when the dead bodies of a man identified as Greg Indyor, his wife, Linda and their son, of about six years, Terkumawuese were on Friday discovered in their room.

The death of the Indyors is coming just five days after four members of a family of six  were burnt to death in a midnight fire which engulfed their house in the state capital.

Sekegh Akaa, an acting Permanent Secretary with Benue State Government had died in the fire which also killed his wife, Linda and two of their children on Monday.

A coroner has urged surgeons to think twice about performing the "Brazilian butt lift" following the death of a mother-of-three.

Leah Cambridge, 29, saved up thousands of pounds to have the procedure done in Izmir, Turkey, last August after feeling "paranoid about her body".

Her inquest at Wakefield Coroner's Court heard how she booked the surgery against the wishes of her partner, Scott Franks, through a company named Elite Aftercare, which offers clients a package that includes a stay in a villa.

The beautician, from Leeds, died while undergoing the controversial operation, where fat is removed from certain areas of the body, including the stomach and back, and then transferred into the buttocks to achieve an hourglass figure.

Organisers of Witchcraft conference snub CAN, say it is unstoppable

Despite the cancellation of the booked venue for their witchcraft conference, the organisers said they are marching ahead and will announce a new venue soon.

Professor Egodi Uchendu, director of the B.I.C Ijomah Centre for Policy Studies and Research in a WhatsAPP response to a Pm news enquiry said the protest and campaign by the Christian Association of Nigeria and Christian students in the University of Nigeria(UNN), Nsukka will not deter them from holding the academic conference.

Three nabbed for gang-raping 14-year-old pupil

Three persons have been arrested by the police in Lagos for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl at Eyita, Ikorodu area of the state.

The police are also on the trail of a fourth suspect, a secondary school pupil, said to be involved in the crime.

City Round learnt that the suspects reside in the neighbourhood and usually waylaid the victim when she was sent on errands and had sex with her.

 It was gathered that relations of the victim, who lives with her grandmother, observed she had been wayward lately and started monitoring her closely.

Copyright infringement: No bad blood between me and Tiwa Savage – Danny Young

Copyright lawsuits are not new in the entertainment industry; however, most lawsuits often end up in messy online scuffles which degenerate into bad blood or beef between the parties involved.

After months of controversy over allegation of copyright infringement made against Tiwa Savage by Ajibola Olumuyiwa Danladi, better known as Danny Young, both of them agreed to settle the case out of court.

The matter was taken to the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Young filed N200m copyright suit against Savage for her 2018 song, ‘One’, which he claimed she copied from his 2009 single, ‘Oju Tiwon’.

Air Peace boss, Allen Onyema indicted, charged with bank fraud, money laundering in US

The U.S Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney’s Office Northern District of Georgia has accused Air Peace boss, Allen Onyema of money laundering, bank fraud and financial scams, according to a released statement.

The statement also indicated that Onyema, along with his airline’s Chief of administration and finance, Ejiroghene Eghagha has been charged to court, implying that they may have been arrested in the US.

“Allen Ifechukwu Athan Onyema, 56, of Lagos, Nigeria, and Ejiroghene Eghagha, 37, of Lagos, Nigeria, were indicted on November 19, 2019, on one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, three counts of bank fraud, one count of conspiracy to commit credit application fraud, and three counts of credit application fraud. Additionally, Onyema was charged with 27 counts of money laundering, and Eghagha was charged with one count of aggravated identity theft”, the statement said.

I won’t make mistake of attempting a third term – Buhari

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has told Nigerians to count him out of any attempt to seek a third term in office as being speculated.

Buhari, who spoke at the National Executive Council, NEC, of the All Progressives Congress APC, in Abuja on Friday said the Nigerian constitution did not allow him to seek third term and that he had no plan of doing anything like that.

The president stated that such speculations by some Nigerians were untrue as there was no plan for such.

EFCC to arraign Mompha on Monday for alleged fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed a 14 charge of alleged fraud and money laundering against Instagram celebrity, Ismaila Mustapha, popularly known as Mompha.

Mompha is to be arraigned before Justice Mohammad Liman of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi Lagos on Monday, November 25.

In the first charge, the EFCC said that between 2015 & 2018, Mompha procured Ismalob Global Investment Ltd to retain the sum of N18m in its account, a sum suspected to be proceeds of crime.

Only yesterday, Mompha had filed a Fundamental Rights Enforcement Suit before the Lagos High Court to challenge his continued detention by the EFCC. He asked the court to award him N5m in damages against the EFCC for what he called his unlawful detention.

I’ll sack customs officers living above earnings – Hameed Ali

Col. Hameed Ali (rtd), the Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has vowed to sack any officer who cannot live within his or her remuneration and involve in illicit ways to acquire wealth.

Ali gave the warning while decorating some newly promoted officers of the service in Abuja on Friday.

The service recently promoted 2,508 officers to various ranks and appointed three as members of its management.

The customs boss warned that no officer in the service should live above his or her earnings if they desire to remain in service.

3 year-old boy found shivering in plastic bag after being dumped in street by dad

A toddler was placed inside a plastic bag and dumped in the street by his desperate dad - because he couldn't afford to look after him.

Mr Qu was caught on CCTV abandoning a plastic travel bag outside a restaurant with his three-year-old son inside.

An employee at the venue spotted the bag just an hour later, but moved it in front of a next door hotel without checking what was inside.

Five hours later the boy wriggled out and cried for help in the city of Laixi, in eastern China.

Katherine Ahn moved to Italy to work as a personal assistant to a Chief Executive Officer, where she met her boyfriend, Yaniv Turgerman.

But in the days before her death, she resigned.

A coroner heard the 33-year-old's consultant boyfriend Yaniv Turgerman had gone on an overnight stay beside Lake Como, but when he returned to his Milan home, he discovered her dead in the kitchen.

CCTV shows bank staff looting vault before robbery attack, Ekiti Commissioner of Police discloses

The commissioner of police in Ekiti, Asuquo Amba, has said the CCTV footage from a bank robbery incident in the state showed the staff taking money from the vault a few minutes before the attack.

A policeman and a girl were shot dead on Thursday when armed robbers attacked a bank in Oye-Ekiti local government area of the state. .

Speaking on the development on Friday, the police commissioner said there seems to be connivance between the robbers and insiders in the bank.

Amba said the assailants attacked the police station in the town first before heading to the bank where they carted away over N25 million.

Reason Lagos Assembly suspended Ifako-Ijaiye LG Chairman, Usman Hamzat

Reasons why the Lagos State House of Assembly on Friday suspended the Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Oloruntoba Oke has emerged.

Oke was suspended because of administrative incompetence and financial recklessness, media reports claim.

The Assembly also ordered the redeployment of the council manager, treasurer and engineer and directed the Vice Chairman, Mr Usman Hamzat to take over the helms of affairs at the council immediately.

Navy nabs 20 rice smugglers in Akwa Ibom

The Nigerian Navy, Forward Operating Base, Ibaka, in the Mbo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, has announced the arrest of 20 suspects and seizure of 1,425 bags of smuggled rice within six days.

Southern City News gathered that four wooden boats used in conveying the rice were also seized during operations between November 12 and 18, 2019.

Speaking while handing over the suspects to the Nigeria Customs Service, the Commanding Officer, FOB, Navy Captain Peter Yilme, said the arrests were made by naval gunboats during routine patrol of the Effiat waterway.

Represented by the Base Operations Officer, Lt. Com. Kabiru Yusuf, Yilme said the base had in the last one month handed over 3,800 bags of smuggled rice, 60 drums of illegally refined Automated Gas Oil, and 60 suspects to the Customs component of the Operation Swift Response for necessary action.

Woman jailed after stabbing identical twin sister to death in drunken fight

A mum who knifed her identical twin sister to death in a drunken brawl wept as she apologised to her family in court.

Amanda Ramirez spent a night drinking with her twin Anna and a friend in Camden, New Jersey, before they returned to Centennial Village in the early hours.

The pair began to exchange heated words in a verbal fight that escalated into a physical exchange outside the apartment at around 5.40am on June 22.

Ramirez plunged a knife once into Anna's chest, she later told a court. A witness told police she heard the dying twin exclaim "Amanda, you stabbed me" as she lay bleeding on the ground.

One dies as tipper rams into tricycle, SUV in Ogun

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, on Friday, said that one person died while three others sustained various degrees of injuries in a road accident along Idiroko Road.

Sango-Ota Area Commander of TRACE, Adekunle Ajibade, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria in Ota, Ogun.

Ajibade said that the accident which happened at about 9:59 a.m. on Friday, around Iyana-Iyesi on Idiroko Road, involved a tipper, a jeep and a tricycle.

He explained that a tipper with registration number MUS 217 YL suffered a brake failure and rammed into a tricycle marked LAR 304 VD and an Acura Jeep with registration number KTU 636 DQ.

46 detained in Turkey over online criticism

No fewer than 46 people have been arrested and detained by Turkish authorities for allegedly disseminating terror propaganda on social media regarding Turkey’s military operation in north-eastern Syria.

The Anadolu news agency said the suspects were detained in the city of Adana in south-eastern Turkey and were also accused of inciting hatred and insulting the Turkish state.

Turkey has been cracking down on dissent over the Syria operation which started on Oct. 9, with several arrests.

The Interior Minister, Suleyman Soylu earlier said that about 500 social media accounts had been investigated for insulting the operation and that 121 people have been arrested.

UNN finally cancels conference on witchcraft billed to hold on its campus

The organisers of the planned academic conference on witchcraft planned for Nsukka next week are looking for another venue after the University of Nigeria withdrew the approval for the use of its Energy Centre.

The director of the centre wrote conference organisers withdrawing the approval, amidst the opposition by Christian students and the Christian Association of Nigeria against the conference.

The conference, initially scheduled for 28-31 October is the brainchild of the B.I.C Ijomah Centre for Policy and Research and is expected to hold between November 26 and November 27. It is a pure academic exercise, not a real meeting of witches and wizards, the centre said, shocked by the uninformed reaction of Christian students and CAN.

Zimbabwe sacks 435 doctors over illegal strike

The Zimbabwean government on Friday said it has so far fired 435 junior doctors at public hospitals for engaging in an illegal strike.

According to Xinhua news, the doctors had been on strike since early September to demand better pay and improved working conditions.

The Labor Court in October declared the strike illegal, but the doctors have been defiant and continued with the strike, paralysing operations at major public health institutions in the country.

The Health Service Board has 45 more disciplinary cases to handle for the doctors.

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is officially cancelled

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show has been officially canceled this year as the company works to save its reputation after plummeting ratings and years of backlash over its lack of diversity.

The lingerie giant's parent company, L Brands, confirmed the end of the holiday runway extravaganza in an earnings call on Thursday, four months after model Shanina Shaik leaked the news.

The decision was part of a move to 'evolve the messaging of [the company],' Fortune reported, and it seems like the lavish event is already on its way to becoming a relic of the past in the #MeToo era.

The brand has also faced declining sales figures and a fall in the number of viewers tuning into watch the catwalk showcase.

RnB sensation, Banky W is coming back to do music again, but he is not sure if all his fans want him back. This came up on twitter when one of his fans begged him to go back to music and release some songs. The fan also went further more saying, even if the singer was occupied with other things, he could just release one song per year.

The politician and actor then replied him saying, he will be doing one more album in 2020, but he is not sure if everyone feels the way the fan feels.
