Man blames Sanwo-Olu as his goods get overturned on Lagos road (photos)

A Lagosian is blaming the Lagos State Governor after his goods were involved in an accident on Lagos road. The man who goes by the name @Franklyn_TA on twitter, shared photos from the accident and tweeted at Sawno Olu thanking him for the damage.

A user was however fast to correct him and asked he shouldn;t blame the governor, but Frank was also very fast to tell him, HE PAYS HIS TAX and he never expected the money to be used to lay ludo.

Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Kwara State accused of unfollowing people immediately she resumed office

Arguably the youngest Commissioner in Nigeria,  the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Kwara State, Joana Nnazua Kolo has been accused of following people on Twitter immediately she resumed office.

This accusation was first made by Kayode Oshinubi (@Kayodeoshinubi) on twitter, who said she was following him but immediately she resumed office, she unfollowed him. Others also agreed with Kayode with many saying they suffered same faith in her hands.

Banker, 3 others arrested, one killed in aborted First Bank robbery (video)

The standoff between the police and some bandits who attempted to rob a First Bank branch in Mpape Abuja ended some hours ago.

The robbers finally surrendered to policemen from the FCT Police Command, after one of them had been killed.

More startling is that among the four suspects arrested was a banker, a staff of the bank.

The spokesperson of the command, ASP Mariam Yusuf told reporters that normalcy has been restored.

Game of throne actor, Andrew Dunbar dies suddenly at home on Christmas Eve

Game Of Thrones actor Andrew Dunbar died suddenly at his home in Belfast on Christmas Eve, it has emerged.

The actor, who was the body double for Theon Greyjoy who is played by Alfie Allen in the hit show, was in his thirties and also worked as a DJ.

Andrew, from Portrush, Northern Ireland, also worked on hit TV shows such as Line Of Duty and Derry Girls during his career.

Tributes have poured in for the actor, who also worked as a Game of Thrones tour guide, with colleagues praising a 'beautiful soul'.

Deji Adeyanju speaks from Dubai, thanks Nigerians

Deji Adeyanju who was flown to Dubai for further medical attention after he was attacked on Monday during a protest demanding the release of Omoyele Sowore has finally spoken from his Dubai hospital bed. Deji in a tweet this evening, thanked Nigerians for their prayers and support as he heals and also wished them a Merry Christmas.

He also used the opportunity to give his friend, whom he had gone to fight for -- Sowore a shout out, saying he would have waited for him when he was about to come to the airport but he was already in the plane.

As you know, Sowore can't fly out of the country for now, except his passport has been handed over to him. But hey, Mrs Joe Odumakin is already in Dubai to Adeyanju some encouragement.

Five arrested as hoodlums’ attack Edo Deputy Governor’s family house

Five suspected hoodlums were on Saturday arrested by operatives of Edo State Police Command for allegedly invading the family house of the Deputy Governor of the State, Philip Shaibu.

The house is located in Jattu-Uzairue, Etsako West Local Government Area of the State.

It was gathered that a patrol team responded to a distress call from members of the family and swung into action.

A source said, “One of the thugs scaled the fence and was caught inside the family house of the Deputy Governor.”

Former Brazil international Hulk has reportedly been dating the niece of his wife following the end of their marriage.

Hulk, real name Givanildo Vieira de Sousa, is currently plying his trade with Shanghai SIPG in China.

The 33-year-old split from his wife Iran in July 2019 after 12 years together.

The couple have three children together, sons Ian, 10 and Tiago, 8, and daughter Alice 6.

Female patient caught on CCTV stealing doctor’s phone

A female patient (name withheld), has been caught on Close Circuit Television (CCTV), stealing a doctor’s phone at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH).

The Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Prof. Darlington Obaseki, disclosed this during the end of the year/curtail party organized by the management of the Hospital for its staff.

Obaseki related that “the patient was admitted into the ward and that while she was there, she sneakily went to where the doctor kept his phone and stole it.

“No sooner than the patient left, the doctor came looking for his phone and he could not find it.

Lagos government reopens Quilox

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) says it has re-opened Club Quilox, after securing the management’s commitment to comply with the state’s environmental laws, and regulations.

The General Manager, LASEPA, Dr Dolapo Fasawe, said in a statement on Saturday that the club was reopened after management pledged to carry out its activities without obstructing the flow of traffic on Ozumba Mbadiwe and other adjoining streets.

Fasawe said that the club’s management promised to ensure its clients’ vehicles were properly parked in designated areas.

Peruvian Man admits to killing his girlfriend and three of her four children, including his 3-week-old son and 2-year old daughter

A man has confessed to the brutal murder of his girlfriend and her three children, two of whom were his, at the weekend in Peru.

Juan CĂ©sar Augusto Huaripata, 28, and JĂ©ssica Tejeda, 34, got into an argument when he arrived to the home at 3am last Sunday.

Tensions escalated inside the home in El Agustino, a town in the South American country's capital of Lima, before Huaripata stabbed Tejeda 80 times with a large kitchen knife.

He then plunged the sharp weapon into his girlfriend's 15-year-old son, Cristian Rivadeneyra, when he tried to save his mother.

Lone accident kills 3 on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

The Ogun Command of Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) on Saturday said that three persons died while three others sustained injuries in an accident that involved a vehicle around Lufuape, near AP Turning Point, on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Mr. Clement Oladele, Ogun Sector Commander of FRSC, told News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) in Ota, Ogun, that the lone accident happened at about 3.47 p.m. on Friday.

Oladele explained that a Toyota Hummer bus, with registration number KSF 272 XM, lost control due to speeding and rammed into road divider of the construction area.

A credible source disclosed to Daily Trust that the bank was immediately surrounded by policemen while the armed men were still inside the bank.

An eyewitness claimed that the bank was attacked by three armed men this morning.

“The bank is surrounded by policemen and soldiers. They are making attempts to enter the banking hall now,” he said.

The abducted wife of a monarch in Ondo state, the Orunja of Odigbo, Olori Regina Akinrinmade, her two daughters and their driver yesterday regained their freedom.

Olori Regina, her two daughters, Mercy and Precious and Lateef the palace driver were abducted last weekend at Oba Akoko on their way to check on one of her children who is an undergraduate at Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko (AAUA).

The monarch, Oba Rufus Akinrimade confirmed to newsmen that the Olori, their two daughters and driver have been released by their abductors and have reunited with their families. He was however silenced on the ransom paid before they were released by their captors.

Archeologists discover ancient 1,000-year-old Mayan palace in Mexico

Archeologists have discovered a large palace likely used by the Mayan elite more than 1,000 years ago in the ancient city of Kuluba, near the modern day tourist hot spot of Cancun in eastern Mexico, Mexican anthropology officials said.

The remains of the six-meter high building, 55 meters (180 feet) long and 15 meters wide, suggest the palace was inhabited for two long periods between 600-1050 A.D., the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) said in a statement.

The Mayan civilization reached its peak between 250 and 900 A.D., when it ruled large swaths of what is now southern Mexico, Guatemala, Belize and Honduras.

Game of Thrones actor dies suddenly at home

Game of Thrones actor Andrew Dunbar died on Christmas Eve at his Belfast home.

The Portrush native, who was in his thirties, was renowned on the set of the hit HBO show where he worked for years as an extra, reports Belfast Live.

He was a body double for Theon Greyjoy, who is played by Alfie Allen in the series.

Dunbar also made appearances in other hit shows including Line of Duty and worked as a DJ.

85-year old woman faces murder charges after shooting two of her roommates

An 85-year-old Washington woman has been charged with murder after she opened fire on her roommates, killing one, according to a report.

Beverly Jenne allegedly gunned down one of her roomies and injured another at their Federal Way home, where a chilling note was uncovered inside a gun holster.

The letter, dated around two hours before the Dec. 19 killing, said the slain woman “was not a nice person. She drove me to this.”

Jenne had previously owned the home before it went into foreclosure and was purchased.

This time, a fan believes that the sighting of a 'body double' puts Tupac at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas on the same night he was shot dead.

Conspiracy theorists have examined the footage of the 25-year-old rapper walking through the lobby of the hotel.

Kwara government seizes Saraki’s land.. to use it as a new secretariat

The Kwara State Government has taken over a piece of land owned by the Saraki Family in Ilorin. It will be used for a new secretariat for civil servants.

Chief Press Secretary to Kwara Governor, Rafiu Ajakaiye announced the decision Friday.

Ajakaiye said the land was originally meant for Government Secretariat and parking space of the Civil Service Clinic, but was unlawfully allocated to a private firm, Asa Investments Limited, without any record of payment to the state government.

Part of the land, situated beside the Civil Service Clinic, is also right in front of late Dr Olusola Saraki’s residence.

Black Boxing Day! Uncle stabs nephew to death for quarreling with girlfriend

A man, Chimezie Eli, has reportedly stabbed his nephew, Samuel, a final year student of Abia State College of Education Technical Arochukwu (ASCETA) to death on Boxing Day.

The incident, it was gathered, threw family members and indigenes of Abayi village in Osisioma Local Government Area of Abia State into mourning.

It was learnt it happened when Samuel returned to the village from his base in Umuahia, the state capital on December 24 , to spend the Christmas holidays with his family.

He was reported to have quarreled with the uncle’s girlfriend, though eyewitnesses couldn’t ascertain the nature of the fight.

My attackers must be arrested, prosecuted – Jonathan

Nigeria’s former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has called for the arrest and prosecution of gunmen who attacked his home in Otuoke, Bayelsa, South South Nigeria.

Jonathan also thanked Nigerians for the continuing show of solidarity and sympathy following the Christmas eve attack by unknown gunmen in his country home in Otuoke, Bayelsa State.

The former President who stated this while conducting sympathisers round the scene of the attack on Friday also commended the Nigerian military for their gallantry in repelling the attack by engaging the assailants in a fierce gun duel that unfortunately claimed the life of a soldier.

Nigerian Nonso arrested with heroin in India

A 21-year-old Nigerian from Anambra state has been arrested for possessing 265 gm heroin in India.
The Nigerian identified simply as Nonso, was arrested near Ziri market, Chandigarh on Tuesday afternoon.

Nonso arrived in India on business visa two months back and had been staying in Delhi.

The police said that 265 gm heroin was a commercial quantity and it was one of the rarest seizure sin Chandigarh.

Kano stands still as Senate President's son weds

The bigwigs in Nigeria’s politics, top brass in government and captains of industry converged on the ancient city of Kano today for the Wedding Fatiah of the first son of Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, the President of the Senate and his bride Amani.

Amani is the daughter of a business man, Alhaji Bala Umar, a Kano indigene.

The marriage ceremony began on Wednesday with the bridal shower or Kamu in Hausa, followed by a dinner on Thursday. Both events held at Meena Event Centre in Kano.

The climax of the event was the Wedding Fatiah which held on Friday at the popular Al Furquan Mosque, GRA, Kano.

Oshiomhole remains suspended from Edo APC – Obaseki

The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has said the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, stays suspended from the state chapter of the party.

The Obaseki-led faction of the party in the state, in November, announced the suspension of Mr Oshiomhole after an alleged vote of no confidence was passed on him by 18 chairmen of the local chapters of the party in the state.

They accused Mr Oshiomhole of causing the worsening crisis in the state chapter.

Contrary to the claim made by the governor’s faction, some LG chairmen of the party in the state denied endorsing the “vote of no confidence” passed on Mr Oshiomhole and reiterated their support for their national chairman.

Bollywood star Kushal Punjabi commits suicide at 37

A Bollywood actor killed himself in his Mumbai apartment last night after leaving a note to his toddler son.

Shortly after Kushal Punjabi, 37, was discovered at his apartment in Pali Hill, Mumbai, friends of the Bollywood star said he had been suffering from depression.   

Punjabi, who rose to fame by winning India's version of Total Wipeout, left a suicide note dedicating half of his estate to his three-year-old son, Kian.

The other half is to be split between his sister and parents. He is also survived by Audrey Dolhen, his wife and the toddler's mother.

George Michael’s sister found dead on Christmas Day

George Michael’s sister Melanie Panayiotou has been found dead. She was found dead at her home on Christmas Day, police have said. This is coming three years after the singer’s death.

The hairdresser, aged 55, was found by her older sister, Yioda, on the evening of 25 December.

The Metropolitan police said they were called by the London ambulance service shortly after 7.30pm on Wednesday to reports of the sudden death of a woman. Her death is not being treated as suspicious.

In a statement through their lawyer, Panayiotou’s family said: “We can confirm that very tragically, Melanie has passed away suddenly. We would simply ask that the family’s privacy be respected at this very sad time.”
