The Lagos State Government today gave conditions for withdrawing the charge brought against controversial hip-hop star, Azeez Fashola popularly known as Naira Marley, former Lagos governorship aspirant, Babatunde Gbadamosi and his wife Folashade for flouting the state Coronavirus social distancing directive.

Naira Marley was represented in court by Damilola Ayinde-Marshall alongside Afeez Olabisi while Olawale Akoni SAN alongside Dr. Bayo Adaralegbe represented the Babatunde Gbadamosi.

Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa SAN alongside O. Awonuga represented the 3rd def, Folasade Gbadamosi.

Lobatan! Gbagada Expressway joggers bag 14-day quarantine

A Yaba Magistrates’ Court in Lagos has sentenced 34 persons to one-month community service for violating the social distancing directives of the Lagos State Government.

The court convicted the defendants following their plea of guilty to a one-count charge of working out in a group larger than 20 persons on the Gbagada-Oworonsoki Expressway.

The violators will be quarantined for 14 days at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, Yaba, or any other place designated by the government.

Three others pleaded not guilty.

Promising 22-year old boxer killed in front of his home

22-year-old boxing prospect Alexis Navidad has been shot and killed in front of his home in El Salvador's capital city San Salvador on Sunday evening.

Navidad, known as 'Payasit' (Little Clown) was shot twice in the Santa Anita neighbourhood and two alleged members of an LA street gang have reportedly been arrested for his murder.

Local publications are reporting that Navidad was sat outside his house with two other people when he was shot and was swiftly taken to hospital after suffering two gunshot wounds.

Tragically, the boxer died from his injuries shortly after he was admitted and the cause of the attack remains unclear.

The collapsed portion is the lintel attachment to an existing structure.

After the collapse, officials of the State Physical Planning Board led by the Acting General Manager, Mr Nwabufo Anene and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Monitoring & Supervision on Lands and Physical Planning, Mrs Joy Nneli, visited the site, sealed and marked it for demolition.

South Africa suspends Minister for two months for having lunch at a friend's house during lockdown

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has suspended one of his top ministers for two months, including one unpaid, after she was photographed having lunch with a friend in violation of a national lockdown to contain the coronavirus.

Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams was summoned to explain herself on Tuesday after Mduduzi Manana, a former deputy minister, posted a picture of the pair dining together with his family on social media. South Africans have been ordered to stay home for three weeks with few exceptions, such as buying food or medicine.

“Members of the National Executive carry a special responsibility in setting an example to South Africans, who are having to make great sacrifices,” Ramaphosa said in a statement. “None of us should undermine our national effort to save lives.”

One of Nigeria's most popular chefs, Phummyndeps with real names as Funmi Adesoji is dead.

Funmi was the Head Chef at her Lagos-based Phummyndeps Kitchen.

Funmi is believed to have suffered from cancer in 2017 but over came it before passing on.

Details of her death is still very sketchy, but her colleagues and fans have started mourning her online, talking about how nice and helpful she was when alive. Too heartbreaking!

Nollywood actor, Ukwak Asuquo is dead. Asuquo who was famous for playing Boniface in then Television soap -- The Village Headmaster has passed away.

His demise was announced by the Public Relations Officer of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Monalisa Coker.

A “hairy woman” is now flaunting her 6cm long armpit hair on Instagram after years of shaving her fuzz.

Brenna Pennly said her boyfriend used to mock her “moustache” before deciding to ditch the razor for good.

The mum-of-two, 31, ended up spending £98-a-month having her hair removed from six areas at her local beauty clinic.

But in 2017, the psychology student, from Idaho, US, started to remove the hair on her face after becoming obsessed with shaving at the age of 11.

Fire at Accountant General’s Office put out

The fire that engulfed the fourth floor of Treasury House has been put out.

Minister of State Budget and National Planning arrived the scene a short while ago in the company of the Accountant General of the Federation to assess the level of damage.

Men of The Federal Fire Service, Air Force, Navy, FCT Fire Service were on hand to put out the fire.

They have just left the building to allow the minister and AGF tour the damaged parts of the building.

Marley, Politician Gbadamosi and his wife were charged before the Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Ogba for attending a crowded birthday party in violation of the government’s lockdown rule, but the matter was left to be settled out of court.

12-week-old baby contracts coronavirus in UK... now discharged but still asked to be self-isolated at home

A mother-of-two has spoken of her ordeal when a 'senior doctor' told her that her 12-week-old daughter could not have contracted coronavirus, only to find out 24 hours later she had.

Little Winter-Rose Watson is thought to be one of the youngest cases of coronavirus in the UK.

Her mother, Jade Watson, 27, from Burnley in Lancashire, claimed a 'senior doctor' at the Royal Blackburn Hospital initially ruled out the chance her daughter had Covid-19, saying babies cannot catch the virus.

She added they told her they would not be testing the child, according to a report by SWNS. 'That really upset me, and they could see that,' she said.

Gbenga Akosile shades Nigerians who took to gbagada expressway to exercise

Well some were there yesterday morning and we didn't know they would still return this morning despite their photos going viral yesterday.  Now, the Chief Press Secretary to Lagos State Governor, Gbenga Akosile, who shared the photo showing how some military men have punished the Lagosians for flouting the lockdown rule said this happened this morning.

Anxiety in Warri as Delta records first case of COVID-19

There is anxiety in Delta’s oil city, Warri, over the record of an index case of the novel Coronavirus in the State.

 According to sources, the case was discovered at a private hospital within the commercial hub of the state.

Sources who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed the development.

The sources disclosed that the person, who recently returned from a foreign trip, had been receiving treatment in the hospital.

COVID-19: Judge says R. Kelly's continuous stay in jail doesn't put him at risk

R. Kelly has been denied a release from jail after requesting to be freed due to COVID-19 concerns.

A judge in Chicago explained that the 53-year-old R&B singer is still a flight risk among several other reasons for the decision according to legal documents obtained by TMZ on Tuesday.

The judge said: '[Kelly] is currently in custody because of the risks that he will flee or attempt to obstruct, threaten or intimidate prospective witnesses. The defendant has not explained how those risks have changed.'

Kelly is awaiting trial on child p3rnography and other charges and recently expressed fear of contracting COVID-19 behind bars.

Naira Marley's trial has begun and journalists have been barred from covering it.

Naira Marley is being tried for alleged violation of the lockdown order in Lagos State when he attended JJC Skillz birthday at AMEN Estate. The party was put together by his wife, popular Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele.

Both Funke and JJC have been sentenced and fined.

Breaking! Fire guts Accountant-General’s Office in Abuja

Fire has gutted the Treasury House which is the office of the Accountant General of the Federation in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

It was gathered that the fire started from around the third floor, razing the building upwards including the Accountant General’s office and most of the important offices.

The cause of the fire is however unknown as at the time of filing this report.

Breaking! 66-year-old Briton dies of COVID-19 in Lagos

A 66-year-old citizen of the United Kingdom has died of coronavirus in Lagos State.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, made this known via Twitter today.

He also confirmed that cases of coronavirus had increased to 130 in the state.

He tweeted, “Lagos recorded another #COVID-19 related death: a 66-year-old Briton, who travelled from India via Dubai to Lagos on 17th of March, 2020. As of 7th of April, 2020, there are 10 new cases of #COVID-19 confirmed. The total of #COVID-19 cases in Lagos rises to 130. Another #COVID-19 patient was discharged after full recovery. This brings the number of discharged patients to 32.”

'Hungry' man dies while buying foodstuff at delta market

A yet-to-be identified man reportedly slumped and died at the popular Igbudu Market in the Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State on Tuesday.

It was learnt that the man had gone to the market to buy foodstuffs when he slumped and died.

Punch Metro gathered that the incident occurred around 9am.

A source at the scene said, “The man was at the market to purchase foodstuffs and after buying tomatoes and pepper, he wanted to buy fresh fish. Somebody directed him to where fresh fish was being sold.

Grammy-winning country folk singer John Prine dies at 73 of coronavirus complications

Grammy-winning country folk singer John Prine has died at the age of 73 from coronavirus.

The singer, who was one of the most influential songwriters of his generation, died on Tuesday after a short battle with the virus.

Prine was hospitalized on March 26 suffering from symptoms of COVID-19.

He died Tuesday from complications caused by the infection at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, his family confirmed.

Coronavirus: US records highest death toll in single day

The US recorded the most coronavirus deaths in a single day with more than 1,800 fatalities reported on Tuesday.

It brings the total number of deaths in the country to nearly 13,000, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

The US has more than 398,000 confirmed cases, the highest number in the world. Global cases have exceeded 1.4 million.

However during a press conference President Donald Trump said the US might be getting to the top of the "curve".

Meanwhile the city of Wuhan in China, where the infection first emerged, ended its 11-week lockdown.

Boris Johnson spends second night in intensive care

Boris Johnson has spent a second night in intensive care as he continues to receive treatment for coronavirus.

Mr Johnson is being kept in St Thomas' Hospital in London "for close monitoring", Downing Street said.

The PM is "comfortable, he's stable, he's in good spirits", said health minister Edward Argar on Wednesday.

No 10 also suggested the three-week review into whether the coronavirus lockdown could be eased would not go ahead as planned on Monday.

Donald Trump calls WHO 'China centric' and threatens to cut their funding

President Trump went after the World Health Organization in a tweet Tuesday, calling it too 'China centric' and threatening to trim U.S. funding from the body.

'The W.H.O. really blew it,' Trump wrote. 'For some reason, funded largely by the United States yet very China centric. We will be giving that a good look.'

Trump was following the lead of other American conservatives who have placed blame on WHO for 'helping Communist China cover up a global pandemic,' as Sen. Rick Scott, a Florida Republican, put it.

Bauchi Governor’s kidnapped brother regains freedom

Yaya Adamu Duguri, the kidnapped elder brother of Bauchi State governor, Sen Bala Mohammed has regained his freedom from his kidnappers.

Yaya Adamu Duguri who was kidnapped about two weeks ago by armed men was released on Tuesday evening.

A source close to the family said that the District Head of Duguri walked into the house after he was dropped off by the kidnappers around the metropolis.

Bauchi State Police Command through its PPRO, DSP Kamal Datti Abubakar also confirmed the release saying, “yes, he has regained his freedom and has reunited with his family, further details will be given later.”

Wuhan residents have made a dash to leave the city by road, air and train as the city's 76-day lockdown is finally lifted.

Pictures showed hundreds of cars arriving at motorway toll gates and travellers gathering outside transport hubs in the city, where the coronavirus outbreak first began in December.

Wuhan has now recorded zero new deaths for the first time since the pandemic began, prompting authorities to go ahead with plans to lift a citywide quarantine imposed in January.

Residents were allowed to leave the city as of midnight local time, and the airport is now preparing to reopen to domestic flights.

Coronavirus: 1417 people die in 24 hours in France

France has recorded the world's highest daily coronavirus death toll after 1,417 victims died in the past 24 hours.

The leap makes the country the fourth in the world to surpass 10,000 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

Its overall toll now stands at 10,328.

Only Italy (17, 127), Spain (14,045) and USA (12,857) have seen more deaths.

Mayor of Illinois sends cops to break party violating lockdown rules only to discover his wife is among them

A small-town Illinois mayor on Sunday sent police officers to break up a social gathering that was being held in violation of the governor's coronavirus stay-at-home order, only to find his own wife among the revelers.

Alton Mayor Brant Walker on Monday issued a statement on Facebook apologizing to the community and saying that he has instructed the town's police chief to treat his wife, Shannon, 'as he would any citizen violating the "Stay At Home" order and to ensure that she received no special treatment.'

'I am embarrassed by this incident and apologize to the citizens of Alton for any embarrassment this incident may cause our City,' the mayor added in his post.

Twitter's Jack Dorsey pledges $1billion for coronavirus relief

Twitter co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey said Tuesday he was committing $1 billion to coronavirus relief through his philanthropic fund.

Dorsey said in a series of tweets that he would transfer his equity in his digital payments group Square to his limited liability corporation Start Small, contributing around 28 percent of his overall wealth.

“Why now? The needs are increasingly urgent, and I want to see the impact in my lifetime,” Dorsey said.

“I hope this inspires others to do something similar. Life is too short, so let’s do everything we can today to help people now.”

Katsina Government lifts suspension on Friday prayers

The Katsina State Government has lifted the suspension on Friday congregational prayer with immediate effect.

This was announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Mustapha Inuwa, in a statement made released Tuesday in Katsina.

The statement said: “Following a meeting held today between the Katsina state government, religious leaders, traditional rulers, and security agents to review some measures taken by the government to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

Sickening footage shows a postman wipe his nose and rub it around a doorway while a person self-isolates inside.

The clip has been doing the rounds on social media, where viewers have expressed their outrage.

Royal Mail say they have "launched and urgent investigation" after viewing the footage, which appears to have been taken on a door camera.

The clip shows a postman approach the door, put a parcel through the letter box before wiping his nose with his left hand and then wiping it on a railing, the door handle, a wall and the letter box.

Kim Kardashian has been slammed after she deciding to launch a new product in the middle of the coronavirus crisis.

New York man puts out fliers seeking a germ free girlfriend in this coronavirus lockdown

A 30-something New Yorker seeking a “germ free” girlfriend during the coronavirus pandemic has hung dating flyers along city running paths, including in Central Park, as a more “targeted” alternative to searching online apps.

The man who prefers to only be identified as Brad, a.k.a. -- says in the flyer that he’s “Seeking Girlfriend for Coronavirus And Beyond” and describes himself as a “Healthy, Attractive, Well-Employed Man” who’s looking for “Germ Free Monogamy.”

Yaakov Litzman has tested positive for Covid-19, causing chaos in Israel's highest political office as leaders working to tackle the virus crisis are forced into quarantine.

Several senior officials in Benjamin Netanyahu's Cabinet, have been forced to go into isolation after the 71-year-old minister contracted coronavirus.

The Prime Minister had already been in isolation after one of his senior aides tested positive for Covid-19.

Pastor who criticized coronavirus ‘mass hysteria’ dies from it

A Virginia pastor who criticized the “mass hysteria” surrounding the coronavirus pandemic has died of the illness.

Landon Spradlin, of Gretna, a small town halfway between Lynchburg and Danville started to feel sick while in New Orleans, where he went to preach to the crowds gathered for Mardi Gras celebrations, according to the BBC.

A month later, Spradlin -- who was also a seasoned musician inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2016, died.

“His mission was to go into pubs, clubs and bars, play the blues and connect with musicians and just tell them that Jesus loved them,” Spradlin’s daughter Jesse Spradlin, 28, told the BBC.

UCH chairman, Ibrahim Shetima tests positive again

The result of COVID-19 second test done for the chairman of the governing board of the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Ibrahim Shetima, has returned positive.

Shetima had been in isolation at a special ward in the UCH after he tested positive for coronavirus two weeks ago.

The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr Toye Akinrinlola, had said the chairman manifested symptoms of the virus shortly after the last board meeting of the hospital began in Ibadan, adding that the test conducted on him revealed that he was positive for COVID-19.

Police release Naira Marley, ex-gov candidate, wife on bail

The Lagos State Police Command has released on bail the governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party in the state in the 2019 gubernatorial election, Babatunde Gbadamosi, and his wife.

The couple were released on Tuesday alongside Naira Marley, after they perfected their bail conditions.

The trio had on Monday turned themselves in at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, Yaba, and were detained after the police asked them and others, who attended a birthday party organised by popular actress, Funke Akindele-Bello, to report at the SCIID.
