Sultan warns on 50,000 orphaned children

Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, on Monday sought help for the 50,000 children orphaned by Boko Haram insurgency.

He said unless they are given proper care that dignifies their persons in the society, the children might grow into a menace the society would not be able to tame.

The sultan expressed the fear that the orphans, who are victims of a circumstance they did not create, might become worse than the insurgency that created their current plight.

He urged northern governors to implement several recommendations submitted to their forum on how to tackle the security challenges and other issues bedevilling the region.

Abubakar spoke at the Northern Security meeting convened by Arewa Research and Development Project (ARDP) in Kaduna.
