Two killed, four injured in France knife attack

Two people have been killed and four others injured in a knife attack in the southeastern French town of Romans-sur-Isère, the town’s mayor has said.

The attack took place on Saturday morning outside a bakery where customers had queued, according to mayor Marie-Hélène Thoraval.

She added that the assailant had been arrested.

Lyon judicial police are investigating the incident and France’s National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office (PNAT) is evaluating whether to open an investigation into the stabbing, the French newspaper Le Monde reported.

Some of the injured are thought to be in serious condition, the newspaper said.
