Peruvian model sentenced to 15 months house arrest for throwing a party during lockdown

A Peruvian model has been sentenced to 15 months of house arrest for throwing a boozy party at her home during the coronavirus lockdown, it has been reported.

Shirley Arica, 28, was arrested at her home in the Peruvian capital Lima after reportedly throwing a rowdy party during lockdown with loud music and alcohol.

The curvy Latin model has been sentenced to 15 months of house arrest and she cannot leave her home during that period without authorisation from the court, according to local media.

Reports said that the police arrived at her house at around 11pm after neighbours complained about the noisy gathering.

Arica was found with three friends who have been sentenced to 12 months of house arrest as well as a fine, according to reports.

Four other people at the party reportedly managed to escape the scene from the roofs of neighbouring houses.

The defendants appeared before a judge less than 48 hours after being arrested, according to local media.

The model said on Instagram that “everything is not as it has been reported” and thanked her one million followers for their support.

According to the latest figures from the Johns Hopkins University, Peru has registered 135,905 cases of Covid-19 and 3,983 related deaths.
