Burglars who stole £20k in series of raids go on shipping spree and flaunt their loot on social media

A brazen gang of burglars filmed themselves flaunting wads of cash and bags of designer gear from Selfridges after raiding homes and stealing £20,000.

The shameless criminals had previously stolen a safe from a country house in Illston on the Hill, near Kibworth, last year and made a short video showing them with bags of notes.

The group of five men then went on a designer shopping spree at the Selfridges department store, in Birmingham's Bullring Shopping Centre.

They blew £20,000 on flash clobber and even took a group photograph of themselves standing outside the store surrounded by designer carrier bags.

Leicestershire Police have now shared the short video and images after the brazen thieves were sentenced for their crimes at Leicester Crown Court, last week.

As reported by LeicestershireLive, the defendants were responsible for a string of break-ins across the county.

Oliver Read, 23, Barry Kew Moss, 21, Aurel Sadiki, 22, and Jacob Wesley, 26, were sentenced on Friday June12, while a 15-year-old youth, who can't be named for legal reasons, was sentenced for a series of offences on June 5.

The safe was stolen in a break-in at a country house in Main Street, Illston on the Hill, in the early hours of Friday September 27, last year.

A Land Rover Discovery used to transport the safe was also stolen in a raid on a house in Hallaton, Harborough district, on the same night, as was a Mercedes AMG during another break-in at a house in Leicester.

In the early hours of October 14, last year, a house was then broken into in Shepshed, where an Audi A3 and Mercedes 200 were stolen.

The court heard footage from one of the gang's mobile phones also showed the stolen safe being cracked open.
