Husband surprises wife with tear-jerking anniversary gesture months after his death

Alyssa Mendoza's email pinged at 3am with a message which had been scheduled to send from her dad who had passed away 10 months earlier.

She couldn't bring herself to open it at first and it took two days for her to be able to face reading the words he had left.

It began: "Alyssa, follow my instructions in this e-mail completely and carefully. I'm sending this to you in the off chance that I'm not in my right mind or worse, gone. I hope not."

In the message, his daughter discovered he had set out instructions for her to help him and her mum to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary.

She followed his instructions which included arranging the flowers, picking food and funding a trip to the salon so his wife could do 'whatever she does there on the weekends'.

He even gave instructions on how to deal with his wife's predicted responses at each stage.

He finished the message: "BE GOOD AND BEHAVE. DON'T DO ANYTHING STUPID.

"Follow all these instructions. Thank you. I love you baby."
Alyssa and a helper started setting up and following the instructions for the wedding anniversary celebration when her mum was in bed at 11pm and finished at 5.30am, just in time for her her 6am alarm.

Photos show the room filled with balloons with family photographs attached as her mum walks around looking at each one in floods of tears, clutching the flowers which had arrived like Alyssa's dad promised as John Legend's 'All Of Me' plays in the background.

As well as the anniversary celebrations that day, he had also contacted and paid for a florist to deliver flowers to his wife for the coming years on every birthday, Valentine's Day and anniversary.

Sharing the incredible story on Facebook, Alyssa wrote: "Even though I lack sleep, the joy I saw in my mom's face made everything worth it.

"Of course my mom cried because she misses the love of her life but I could see how happy everything made her because she knew that everything was planned by my dad."

The post, which included a video of her mum's emotional reaction, left hundreds of others in tears as it racked up more than 12,000 shares.
