Kate Middleton's family's heartbreak as brother James shares disappointing news

The Duchess of Cambridge's brother James has revealed he has been forced to cancel his wedding twice during the coronavirus lockdown.

Kate's little brother was set to marry his French fiancée Alizee Thevenet this year after getting engaged in September 2019, but like thousands of couples up and down the country they had to put their plans on hold.

They decided to cancel their original celebration right at the start of lockdown, when weddings couldn't take place at all, but have now announced that their second attempt has also been scrapped.

The news was sure to be a blow for Kate and the rest of the family, who would have been looking forward to welcoming Alizee to the family.

However James isn't letting the disappointment get him down, and posted a lovely Instagram message gushing about his bride-to-be.

Sharing snaps of their romantic getaway to Italy, he wrote: "It’s a year since I asked Alizee to marry me… what a year it’s been!

"Two homes, lockdown, two attempts at a wedding, a litter of [puppy emoji], launching of new company, a beard shave and much more but the best part is that I get to share it with you  @alizeethevenet  and I can’t wait to take on whatever the future holds for us.

"We managed to escape to Italy for a quick dip in the the sea, lots of [pasta and wine emojis] and now ready to face the world again."

When the original wedding was cancelled a source told the Mail : "It's very sad, but it's just not practical to hold it in this crisis.

"Holding an AngloFrench wedding is impossible in the coming months and is still likely to be difficult in the summer.

"They would prefer to wait until all their guests are able — and happy — to attend."
