An engaged man has revealed that he has threatened to call off his wedding after his bride-to-be told him he couldn't name his female best friend as his 'best man' because it would 'be distracting to the guests'.

The unnamed 28-year-old, who is from the US, opened up about the furious argument with his fiancee, 24, in a Reddit post, explaining that he ended up storming out of their home as a result of the fall out.

'I proposed to my girlfriend Jasmin in March,' he revealed. 'Earlier this week she and I were talking about wedding plans and she already picked out who her bridesmaids were gonna be and was questioning me about my groomsmen to see who'd walk with who and all that.'

But after they 'interviewed several people' they 'determined that the caller was in fact the perpetrator'.

The Nigerian Government has seized a private jet bought by Dan Etete, a former Minister of Petroleum, with some of the alleged proceeds of the $1.3bn Malabu oil deal.

The seizure was confirmed to Finance Uncovered by Nigeria’s lawyer, Babatunde Olabode ‘Bode’ Johnson.

Johnson said that the order was served on the jet’s owner, a company called Tibit Ltd, which has until Tuesday next week (9 June) to file court papers opposing the seizure.

Tibit Ltd is an anonymously owned company incorporated in the British Virgin Islands.

A 38-year-old man, Mr Simon Emeka has been remanded by a Makurdi Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly raping his seven-month-old daughter.

Lagos accredits 3 private hospitals for COVID-19 treatment

Lagos State Government has accredited three private hospitals to manage COVID-19 cases in the state.

A statement from the Lagos State Ministry of Health quoted the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, as disclosing this at a news briefing to give situation report on COVID-19 management in the state.

Abayomi stressed that one of the accredited private hospitals is already admitting patients, adding that the other two will soon start admission and management of patients.

He said, “They have passed the biosecurity compliance test. They have made modifications to their hospitals so that their staff and other patients are not put in danger or exposed to a higher risk of contracting COVID-19.

Facebook axes 190 accounts linked with racist groups

Facebook has removed nearly 200 social media accounts linked to white supremacy groups planning to infiltrate protests over police killings of black people.

Some of the groups even planned to attend the rallies with weapons, company officials said Friday.

The accounts on Facebook and Instagram were tied to the Proud Boys and the American Guard, two hate groups already banned on the platforms, AP reported.

Officials were already monitoring the accounts in preparation for removing them when they saw posts attempting to exploit the ongoing protests prompted by the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

17-year-old girl connives with boyfriend to fake own kidnap, demands N500,000 ransom

A 17-year-old girl, Seun Adekunle, and her 25-year-old boyfriend, Basit Olasunkanmi, have been arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command for faking her kidnap.

The teenager who lives at 32 Agura Road Abeokuta, was reportedly lured by Olasunkanmi, a butcher, who lives at No 4, Ogun Radio, Abeokuta to fake her kidnap.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi disclosed this on Friday.

Oyeyemi explained that they were arrested at their hideouts following a report by the mother of the girl, Bukky Adekunle.

PDP official charged with terrorism in Imo State

The Imo State Government has arraigned the Imo State Director-General of the Peoples Democratic Party’s New Media Centre, Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, for terrorism after he accused Governor Hope Uzodinma of “secretly approving Rural Grazing Reserves for Fulani herdsmen”.

Nwaogwugwu was also said to have accused Governor Uzodinma of planning to rename the Imo State University after the late Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari.

A copy of the charge sheet, marked 0W/217c/2020, stated that the 29-year-old Nwaogwugwu also accused the governor of constructing a Rural Grazing Area for Fulani herdsmen.

The defendant also allegedly accused Uzodinma of planning to divert N5.2bn meant for pensioners in the state.

Audu Maikori awarded N10m in lawsuit against Kaduna govt

An Appeal Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Kaduna State Government to pay N10.5m as damages to the President of Chocolate City Group, Audu Maikori.

The court on Friday upheld the ruling of the Federal High Court that the state government violated the rights of Maikori when he was arrested in Lagos in 2017 by a team of policemen and was transferred to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for misinforming the public via his tweets on happenings in Southern Kaduna.

The court assessed damages at N10.5 million in favour of Maikori. The appeal court reduced the damages awarded by the high court from N40 million to N10.5 million.

A Google spokesperson told DailyMail.com: 'We can confirm that our Threat Analysis Group recently saw phishing attempts from a Chinese group targeting the personal email accounts of Biden campaign staff and an Iranian group targeting the personal email accounts of Trump campaign staff.'

Legal practitioner seeks amendment of law on r.a.p.e

An Ilorin based legal practitioner, Mr Adeola Omotunde, has advocated amendment of the law on rape and defilement of minors in the face of rampant cases of r*pe in the society.

Omotunde made the appeal on Saturday in Ilorin while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria.

According to him, now that the cases of r*pe is increasing, the law guarding it has to be amended to make it more stringent or to serve as deterrent to discourage the perpetrators.

Avoid worship centres, Govt tells Lagos residents above 65 years

Lagos State Government has advised residents of the state above 65 years to avoid visiting worship centres in order to curb COVID-19 in the state.

The Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi gave the advice during a press conference in Alausa, Ikeja, the state capital.

The Commissioner who noted that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu ordered the reopening of religious centres in the next two weeks as the state entered the second phase of the ease of lockdown, in line with the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and NCDC protocols on ease of lockdown.

Abayomi reiterated the commitment of the state government to manage the public health of residents, noting that the government is deeply worried by the aged group considered as vulnerable.

US will allow limited flights by Chinese airlines, not ban

The Trump administration on Friday, said it will let Chinese airlines operate a limited number of flights to the U.S., backing down from a threat to ban the flights.

The decision came one day after China appeared to open the door to U.S. carriers United Airlines and Delta Air Lines resuming one flight per week each into the country.

The Transportation Department said it will let Chinese passenger airlines fly a combined total of two round-trip flights per week between the U.S. and China, which it said would equal the number of flights that China’s aviation authority will allow for U.S. carriers.

Delta praised the U.S. government for trying to “ensure fairness and access to China.” United said it was reviewing the matter. Neither said whether the latest development in the dispute between the two countries would affect their plans. Both had hoped to offer more flights.

Wisconsin police apologise for arresting African-American man inside his home after neighbour reported him as an intruder

Police in Wisconsin have publicly apologized to an African American man they wrongly arrested at gunpoint after falsely suspecting him of burglarizing a house he had actually just moved into.

The Monona Police Department received a call from a woman on the 5100 block of Arrowhead Drive at 10:50am on Tuesday, reporting that she’d seen a black man ‘inside her neighbor’s home and didn’t believe he should be there’.

The woman told dispatchers that the previous person who lived next door had recently passed away, and the home had been vacant ever since.

Hugh Jackman has been slammed by fans for sharing a photo of a protestor hugging an officer following the death of George Floyd in police custody.

The actor, 52, posted the picture, taken during the Black Lives Matter protests, to his Twitter page and captioned the post: 'Solidarity'.

Fans immediately hit out at Hugh, claiming he should be sharing pictures of police brutality during the riots instead, and also criticised the star for saying it represents unity.

Girl, 15, charged with murder of 37-year old man who was found dead inside his apartment

A 15-year-old girl has been arrested and charged with murder in the death of a 37-year-old Iowa man that was initially reported to police as a suicide.

The teen, whom the Des Moines Police Department did not name, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in the the death of Zachary Brooks, according to a press release.

Brooks was found dead in an apartment at 1516 Evergreen Avenue at around 5.40pm on Monday after someone called authorities to report a suicide there.

The officers who arrived found Brooks’ body, but said it did not appear he'd killed himself, reported KCCI.
