Couple who are boxing champions kill man who tried to stop them from beating up disabled man

A Russian boxer and a female world champion kickboxer were caught on video in a fight with a disabled man which led to the death of a passerby who tried to be a "good samaritan" by stopping the brawl.

Mikhail Startsev, 38, and kick boxer Liliya Vorogushina, 37, have been accused of beating a man who needed a walking stick.

Married father of three Pavel Pokhlov, 40, was passing by with his wife after a night out and "tried to intervene to stop the fight" in Siberian city Barnaul.

In the footage, Startsev appears to haul the disabled man to the ground while Vorogushina "aims kicks at the man's head", said a state media report.

Mr Adamu Usman, Commissioner of Police told the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) in Minna, that Alhaji Mohammed Bello, the district head of Rijau reported the incident at Rijau, Divisional police office.

Usman, said on July 31, at about 0815 hours one Alhaji Mohammed Bello reported that he discovered seven female bodies inside Afrash Beauty Saloon located along Bawa Rijau road.

Husband admits having s.e.x with chickens three times while his wife filmed it

A man has admitted having s.e.x with chickens, while his wife filmed it.  Rehan Baig, 37, appeared at Bradford Crown Court with his wife Haleema, also 37, on Friday.

He entered guilty pleas to a total of 11 charges including three of performing an act of penetration on chickens, Yorkshire Live reports.

He also admitted downloading indecent images of children, possessing extreme pornographic images relating to s.e.x acts with dogs and chickens and drugs offences.

Prosecutor Abigail Langford said Haleema Baig had already admitted three charges of aiding and abetting “intercourse with an animal” during the couple’s first appearance before the magistrates.

Lagos reopens worship centres August 7

Worship centres had been shut in the state since March as part of measures to curtail the spread of the novel coronavirus disease.

The Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 had okayed the reopening of churches and mosques in the country in June but the Lagos State government insisted that worship centres remained shut.

However, announcing at a briefing on Saturday, the governor said, “Places of worship in Lagos will now be opened from Friday, the 7th of August for our Muslim worshippers, and on Sunday, the 9th of August for our Christian worshippers.

Trump to ban Chinese video app, TikTok in the US

President Donald Trump has announced he is banning the Chinese-owned video-sharing app TikTok in the US.

He told reporters he could sign an executive order as early as Saturday.

US security officials have expressed concern that the app, owned by Chinese firm ByteDance, could be used to collect the personal data of Americans.

TikTok has denied accusations that it is controlled by or shares data with the Chinese government.

COVID-19: Nine die in India after drinking hand-sanitiser

Nine people have died in India from drinking alcohol-based hand sanitiser after liquor shops in their town were closed due to virus restrictions, police said Friday.

The group lost consciousness after consuming a “high quantity” of hand sanitiser mixed with water or soda, Siddharth Kaushal, police superintendent for Kurichedu town in Andhra Pradesh state told AFP.

They were rushed to hospital but declared dead on arrival, he said.

The group turned to hand sanitiser “as a substitute” for liquor after supplies were cut off when authorities ordered a lockdown of the town to combat the coronavirus, he added.

Fire guts foam market in Mushin, Lagos

Fire gutted a foam market in the Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State on Saturday.

The incident happened around 1pm at 16, Ladipo Street in Mushin, said Spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Nosa Okunbor.

He added that first responders including LASEMA operatives have been deployed in the scene to prevent the fire from escalating to adjoining buildings.

According to Okunbor, no casualty has been recorded as of the time of filing this report.

Plane overloaded with cocaine crashes on take-off

A light aircraft overloaded with cocaine crashed on take-off on its way to Australia, police said on Saturday, exposing a Melbourne-based crime syndicate and leading to the arrest of five men with alleged links to the Italian mafia.

The Cesna aircraft, which was stuffed with more than 500 kilograms (1,100 pounds) of cocaine, went down while attempting to leave a remote airstrip in Papua New Guinea on July 26.

Australian Federal Police said in a statement that “greed played a significant part in the syndicate’s activities” and added they “cannot rule out that the weight of the cocaine had an impact on the planes (sic) ability to take off.”

Five suspects were arrested in Queensland and Victoria in recent days, and have been charged with conspiring to import over 500 kilograms of cocaine and a number of related offenses. They each face a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted. The pilot was also arrested two days later, after surrendering himself to police.

Apple becomes world’s most valuable company

American tech company, Apple has become the most valuable company in the world on Friday after posting blockbuster quarterly earnings that sent shares of the technology company up as much as 7%.

Shares of Apple reached $412 at Friday’s intraday high, putting the company’s market value at $1.762 trillion, dethroning the oil giant Saudi Aramco as the most valuable company in the world with market value, worth $1.759 trillion at Friday’s intraday high.

According to Bloomberg, it’s the first time the company’s valuation has surpassed that of Saudi Arabia’s Aramco. Before that, Apple had vied with Microsoft Corp. for the title of the U.S.’s largest public company.


The dethroning of Aramco comes after a tumultuous period for the Saudi company. Its initial public offering fell short of Crown Price Mohammed bin Salman’s expectations. The kingdom’s de facto ruler initially wanted a valuation of $2 trillion and to raise $100 billion. But after foreign investors balked at the pricing, the government settled on a smaller domestic offering and raised about $30 billion, still the largest IPO ever.

Sanwo-Olu rescues man from suicide attempt on Third Mainland Bridge

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday, rescued a man who wanted to commit suicide because he has a debt of N500,000.

The governor made this known while speaking to journalists after he visited the Lagos Island Maternity Hospital, Broad Street and some other hospitals in different parts of the State, to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir with in-patients and health practitioners.

Speaking on his response to a recent viral video of a boy begging his mother to calm down while punishing him for an offense he committed, Governor Sanwo-Olu said he believes strongly in paying attention and creating time to little things because there might be somebody somewhere who needs a help.

He said: “You look at big things but you need to certainly create time for little things as well. That is the difference. You know, you are going to build a bridge and it is nice but you have somebody who is just somewhere who needs a help.

30 Nigerian ladies stranded in Lebanon appeal to FG for rescue

Some 30 Nigerian ladies trafficked to Lebanon are appealing to Nigerian government to rescue them as they are stranded in that country.

They made the appeal in a statement by the President of Journalists International Forum for Migration (JIFORM), Ajibola Abayomi.

Mr Abayomi said the message was being relayed based on an encounter with the victims, which necessitated the call for a speedy rescue action from the government.

“JIFORM has forwarded details of the human trafficking agents involved in this matter to the relevant agencies and shall monitor it to the logical conclusion to ensure proper investigation and prosecution of those involved.’’

Wike, who distributed the items acquired by his government, said the move was in line with the guidelines for resumption of schools.

The governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Ipalibo Banigo, said his government attached premium to the education and health of Rivers children.

Banigo said the sanitary and hygiene kits consisting of hand sanitizers, gloves, face masks, detergents, running water buckets, and disinfectants were part of government’s effort to ensure that students were not infected with the coronavirus.

British Teen charged over massive twitter hack

A British teenager has been charged with hacking the social media site Twitter and stealing thousands of dollars worth of Bitcoin by taking over the accounts of celebrities and business leaders.

The US Department of Justice charged Mason Sheppard, 19, of Bognor Regis, with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and the intentional access of a protected computer.

Mr Sheppard was one of three people charged with the hack, which took place earlier this month and saw accounts belonging to Bill Gates, Elon Musk and Barack Obama hijacked and used to post links to Bitcoin wallets along with false claims that payments would be matched.

More than $100,000 was stolen in the scam, the DoJ said. The charges carry a maximum penalty of 45 years in prison.

United States Attorney David L. Anderson said: 'Criminal conduct over the Internet may feel stealthy to the people who perpetrate it, but there is nothing stealthy about it.'
