Man beat pregnant girlfriend so bad, she managed to give birth, but she and baby die 10 mins apart

A Florida man has been charged with the murders of his girlfriend and her newborn baby, court documents show.

Jay Leonard Rodriguez, 49, was detained on Saturday and charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of the woman and the baby. The name of the woman has not been released in court documents. 

On Monday, prosecutors in the case filed a motion to have Rodriguez held in jail without bail until the trial.

Included in the motion and the arrest report was a witness account from Jessica Gonzalez, a woman who tried to help the pregnant woman and was also threatened by Rodriguez.  

Looting of motorbikes in Ibadan: Police arrests seven

No fewer than seven persons have been arrested in connection with the invasion of Senator Teslim Folarin’s house in Ibadan on Saturday.

Mr Yinka Folarin, the lawmaker’s elder brother, told newsmen on Saturday in Ibadan.

Some hoodlums had on Saturday invaded Folarin’s house, carting away items allegedly worth more than N200 million.

Among the items carted away are about 300 motorcycles, deep freezers and food items.

IGP Adamu orders police to end violence, looting, says enough is enough

The Inspector-General of Police,Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the immediate mobilisation of all police resources to bring an end to the wanton violence, killings, looting and destruction of public and private property.

He told all the hooligans and hoodlums on rampage nationwide: enough is enough.

He also warned them not to test the collective will of the nation by coming out to cause any further breakdown of law and order.

In the order rolled out today, the IGP asked officers to reclaim the public space from criminal elements masquerading as protesters in some parts of the country. 

#EndSARS violence: 229 people arrested for arson, murder, others in Lagos state

No fewer than 229 people have been arrested in Lagos in connection with the mayhem that engulfed Lagos in aftermath of #EndSARS protest.

The Lagos State Government said it would be prosecuting the suspects who allegedly took advantage of the EndSARS protest to destroy and loot public and private properties in different parts of the state.

Hoodlums hijacked the peaceful protest of youths against brutality by operatives of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and other police personnel tagged #EndSARS to wreak havoc and disturb the peace in the state

The State Director of Public Prosecution, Mrs Olayinka Adeyemi has gone round relevant Police formations with a team of prosecutors to evaluate files of those arrested by the police with a view to determine those that have prima facie case made against them.

We are not hoarding Covid-19 palliatives in FCT - Minister

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Minister of State, Dr. Ramatu Aliyu, has assured residents of the territory that there are no hoarded palliative items in various stores across the territory.

She equally assured that items for flood victims are safe and secured, as security agents are being deployed to man strategic areas.

This is following a pandemonium that occurred on Saturday in Abuja where hoodlums tried to loot warehouse where Covid-19 palliative items are believed to be kept.

The minister, also stated that the FCT Administration had in the past few months distributed all items procured and also distributed donated items to the Area Councils, Community Associations, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Professional bodies/associations, stressing the administration has continued to receive donations that are distributed on a continuous basis, very transparently.

Massive crowd storms Tinubu’s residence in London [Video]

Nigerians demanding the end to police brutality and bad governance in line with the #EndSARS tagline storm the London residence of APC National Leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday.

According to the video posted by African Independent Television, only a few of them carried placards with many chanting derogatory words as they stormed Tinubu’s residence at Duchess Mews, Portland Place.

This is coming after the APC leader was accused of ordering security forces to open fire on #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki tollgate area of Lagos State – a claim he has denied.

Tinubu responded by stating he will never be part of any carnage.

Horror! Thai woman is bitten by python while using the toilet

A 7ft python bit a woman on the bottom while she used the toilet in Thailand and she was rushed to hospital.

Boonsong Plaikaew, 54, was about to finish using the toilet at her home in Samut Prakan, central Thailand, when she felt a searing pain on her bottom on Sunday.

Blood gushed through her legs and underwear before the snake bit her again on the finger.

She pulled the python off her fingers and ran out of the toilet screaming for help.

Osun re-imposes 24-hour curfew indefinitely

Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State on Saturday afternoon, imposed a 24-hour curfew across the whole state with immediate effect till further notice.

The state government had on Friday lifted a 24-hour curfew earlier declared in the state to forestall the breakdown of law and order to protect the lives and property of citizens and residents.

However, Oyeola said after an Emergency Security Meeting on Saturday afternoon, where the whole situation was reviewed and assessed, the state government came to the inevitable conclusion to declare a curfew.

The Governor, while speaking, said it is unfortunate that hoodlums and criminals have taken advantage of government’s action to wantonly loot government and private property, including private business premises and homes in several parts of the State this morning.

New motorcycles looted as mob invades Oyo senator’s residence [video]

Men around Oluyole, Ibadan, Oyo state this morning invaded the residence of Teslim Folarin, the senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial district and made away with some of the goods in his store.

As seen in the video making the rounds on social media, the men were seen riding away brand new motorbikes which were allegedly taking from his Oluyole home.

EndSARS protest: Akwa Ibom Police parade 10 suspected looters, recover items

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command, on Friday evening paraded about ten suspected thieves under the guise of End SARS protesters, who on Thursday, broke into some government and private establishments in Uyo, the State capital and looted property valued hundreds of Millions of Naira.

The places vandalized included: De Choice shopping Mall, LG Showroom, Access Bank, Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation Office and the items the command was able to recover presently were: Fourteen (14) Deep Freezers, Six (6) Refrigerators, Eight (8) flat Screen Televisions.

Others were Four (4) water dispensers, Sixteen (16) bags of rice, Four (4) Air conditions, A printer, chairs, and other items.

The recovery according to the Commissioner of Police, CP Amiengheme Andrew, fdc, while parading the suspects and the recovered items during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters Ikot-Akpanabia, said the arrest was effected less than 24 hours after the looting.

Edo jail break: Nigerians mock Obaseki as ultimatum for escaped inmates elapses

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki on Friday extended the ultimatum issued to inmates on the run.

Recall last Monday, amid the violence that erupted after hoodlums hijacked the EndSARS protest in Edo, two correctional facilities were attacked.

The next day, the federal government confirmed that rampaging youths breached the Custodial Centres in Benin and Oko.

The Ministry of Interior, in a statement, said at the last count, 1,993 inmates in legal custody had escaped.

TVC resumes 'operations' after mob attack

The headquarters of Television Continental popularly known as TVC in Ketu, Lagos which was attacked by hoodlums earlier this week, is now back on air.

Hoodlums had vandalised and set ablazed the station on Wednesday during violence that broke out after the #EndSARS protest was hijacked in Lagos.

Findings on Saturday revealed that the station is still battling technical glitches anyway.

This is coming barely 24 hours after the head office of Nation newspaper which was attacked by the hoodlums resumed operation.

Some residents on Saturday discovered and looted a warehouse full of COVID-19 palliatives in Jos, Plateau state.

Same incident happened in Lagos, Oyo, Kwara, Osun, Calabar and Edo.

The actress had shared photos of what is left of her vandalized shop after thugs hijacked the #EndSARS protest and broke into private properties.

She is now pleading to well-wishers for financial support in restoring her business back.

”They took all my years of struggle and hardwork from me.. everything.. I thank God for life. Posterity will judge all of you. E shock me ooooo #endsars #endbadgovernance ??????????????????????????????????,” she wrote.

A video making the rounds on social media has captured the moment Calabar residents sang the national anthem at the top of their voices after looting covid-19 palliatives DRY.

After the looting of the Lagos one and Osun state, Calabar people were also hinted where theirs were stored. They rushed down, broke down the door and alas the looting began.

After emptying the place they decided to sing the national anthem at the top of their voices in a way of saying thank you to Nigeria!

Shehu Sani, a Human rights activist and pan-Africanist, has appelaed to hoodlums who stole the Staff of Office of Oba of Lagos, to return it.

This is coming after Princes from the Ruling house in Lagos asked those who stole it to return it or face the consequences.

In reaction to the staff that is still missing, Shehu Sani pleaded with the hoodlums to return it and the Oba's stolen shoe.

Why Buhari did not speak on Lekki toll gate shooting in nationwide address – Presidency

The Presidency, on Saturday disclosed why President Muhammadu Buhari did not mention the Lekki toll gate shooting in his nationwide speech addressing the issue of EndSARS.

Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina disclosed that his principal did not mention the shooting because it would be “premature and presumptuous.”

Adesina, while appearing on Channels Television’s programme, Politics Today, explained that the shooting was being investigated by the military.

He said: “The Defence Headquarters issued a statement to say that it was investigating the matter. Lagos State Governor has also set up a probe panel to investigate what really happened.

More police stations burnt in Anambra, DPO, officer killed

Four more police stations have been reportedly burnt down in Anambra State, while a Divisional Police Officer and a station officer were also reportedly killed by rampaging youths.

The burning and killing of the policemen happened on Friday, even while the curfew imposed by the State governor, Chief Willie Obiano was still on.

Reports said that police divisions in Amichi, Osumeyi, Ezinifite and Ukpor, all in Nnewi South Local Government Areas were burnt, while the DPO of Osumenyi and two others were fatally wounded in the process, resulting in his death and the death of one other.

This was confirmed by the Anambra State Police Command’s PRO, SP Haruna Mohammed.

#EndSARS: Buhari reveals regret over Ex-IG of Police, Arase

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his regret at not working longer with a former Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase.

This was revealed by presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, in his weekly article.

Arase was appointed by former president, Goodluck Jonathan, in 2015 and worked under Buhari until 2016 when he retired.

He was the 18th IG of Police.

Obafemi Martins scores first goal after two-year drought

Striker Obafemi Martins ended his two-year goal drought as Wuhan Zall played a 1-1 draw with Henan Jianye at the Dongxihu Sports Centre in the Chinese Super League play-offs on Friday.

Abdulrazaq imposes 24-hour curfew in Ilorin over violent protest, looting

Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has imposed 24-hour curfew in Ilorin following violent protest and looting of properties by hoodlums.

The governor announced the curfew late Friday night in a statewide broadcast.

He said he just had an emergency security meeting with commanders of various security agencies in the state to assess the situation in the state.

“Over the last few days, I had earlier met with the traditional rulers, opinion leaders, members of the student community, and many other stakeholders in the state.

Yes soldiers were at Lekki Tuesday night and took away dead bodies - DJ Switch


Nigerian multi-talented disc jockey, singer, and rapper Obianuju Catherine Udeh, popularly known as DJ Switch, claimed that about 15 people died after soldiers opened fire on unarmed protesters at Lekki Toll Gate on Tuesday, 20 October 2020.

The songwriter who went live during the shooting of #EndSARS protesters further said the bodies were taken away by the soldiers.

Obianuju’s account is the first by a witness at the scene of shooting and corroborated earlier accounts that the shooters took bodies away.

The Nigerian Army had denied any involvement in the shooting, even stating that videos showing their officers actively shooting at the protesters were photoshopped.

Argument over food leads man to push his girlfriend's 3-year old son down the stairs leaving him with major injuries

An Indiana man has been arrested on charges of battery and neglect after he admitted to pushing his girlfriend's three-year-old son down the stairs during an argument about food, shaking and beating him, according to court records.

Antonio Austin Riviera-Manship, 24, of Muncie, on Monday was charged with eight felony counts stemming from an incident that took place on October 8.

According to court documents, Riviera-Manship initially told police that his live-in girlfriend's son had fallen down the stairs while he was in an upstairs bedroom, but he later confessed that he had pushed the toddler.

The child was rushed to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, where doctors diagnosed him with two brain hemorrhages.

Five people die in South Korea after taking flu vaccine

Five people have died after getting flu shots in South Korea in the past week, authorities said, raising concerns over the vaccine's safety just as the winter jab programme is expanded because of Covid-19.

Authorities said there was no reason to believe the deaths were linked to the vaccine but an investigation including post-mortems is underway.  

'It makes it hard for us to put out a categorical statement,' vice health minister Kim Gang-lip told a briefing this week about the deaths, which include a 17-year-old boy and a man in his 70s.

Coming just weeks after the rollout of the national vaccine programme was suspended over safety worries, the deaths have dominated headlines in South Korea. 

Pope Francis says homosexuals are children of God and have the right to be in a family

Pope Francis has endorsed same-s.e.x civil unions, saying in a documentary that homosexual people are 'children of God' and that they 'have the right to be in a family'. 

His approval came midway through a feature-length film, titled Francesco, which had its premiere at the Rome Film Festival this week.

The film delves into issues Francis cares about most, including the environment, poverty, migration, racial and income inequality, and the people most affected by discrimination.

'Homosexual people have the right to be in a family. They are children of God. Nobody should be thrown out or be made miserable over it,' the 83-year-old said in one of his sit-down interviews for the film.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has relaxed the curfew imposed in Lagos State with effect from Saturday, October 24.

Mr Sanwo-Olu in an announcement on Friday evening said people are now free to move around from 8 am to 6 pm.

How #EndSARS protest was hijacked, Buhari tells former Heads of State

It is unfortunate that the initial genuine and well-intended protest of youths in parts of the country against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) was hijacked and misdirected, President Muhammadu Buhari told former Heads of State and Presidents of Nigeria, Friday in Abuja.

In a virtual meeting with the former leaders, Buhari reiterated that the government would not fold its arms and allow miscreants and criminals continue to perpetrate acts of hooliganism in the country.

At the meeting were all living past leaders, including: Gen. Yakubu Gowon, President Olusegun Obasanjo, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, Chief Ernest Shonekan, Gen. Abulsalami Abubakar, and former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The President recounted the initial concessions made by his administration on the demands of youths protesting against the excesses of some members of the SARS.

Naomi Campbell calls out Facebook on #ENDSARS posts censorship

In what appears to be a clean-up of posts exposing the ongoing police brutality crisis in Nigeria, the international supermodel, activist, and philanthropist, ​Naomi Campbell, has called out Facebook to stop censoring posts wrongly.

According to Naomi’s Instagram page, Facebook had flagged her post which showed the Nigerian flag and mentioned President Muhammadu Buhari to stop the incessant killing of the Nigerian people by its military.

Naomi Campbell called out Facebook to allow people share their experiences freely and not shut them up thereby limiting the exposure of what is going on in the country.

Facebook, thereafter, issued a statement to defend its action, blaming it on a system glitch, which is censoring people’s posts.

#EndSARS: I’m not afraid to die – Falz says as he speaks to CNN

Nigerian singer, Folarin Falana better known as Falz has said he is not afraid for his life as regards his stance against police brutality which led to the #EndSARS movement in the country.

In an interview with Christiane Amanpour of CNN, when asked if he was afraid for his life, Falz boldly stated, “I’m not afraid for my safety, I’m not afraid for my life because where we are right now, I feel like I could easily die by anything else anyways.”

The 29-year-old went further to say, “we have none existent healthcare for example, we have a seriously high level of poverty, there’s unemployment. We’re in a critical state because of how much corruption and just mismanagement of funds that we continue to see on a daily basis.

From videos shared online yesterday, we saw how mothers, ladies, men scampered for palliatives in Lagos. Why? They are hungry, they don't have food at home. Who has a bag of rice, packs of noodle, garri at home and will still go our risking his or her life to loot food?  Kai...

Miami lawyer is ''unmasked'' as bank robber who has struck five banks [Oh No!!!]

The FBI has arrested a Miami attorney on suspicion of being a serial bank robber in the South Florida area.

Aaron Honaker, 41, has alleged robbed five banks in the past three weeks and authorities believe he was on his way to rob a sixth Tuesday night when he was taken into custody at a bank in Coral Gables.

Investigators did not say which bank. A local police officer recognized him from a description of a suspect while in the downtown area.

Honaker is thought to be the man responsible for raids at Wells Fargo, Chase, Citibank and HSBC branches in the Coral Gables, Dania Beach and Aventura neighborhoods since September 30.

Woman seen cycling in front of a mosque in Iran without a veil is arrested for disrespecting the hijab

A young woman has been arrested in central Iran for 'insulting the Islamic hijab', after a video appeared to show her cycling without a veil.

'A person who had recently violated norms and insulted the Islamic veil in this region has been arrested,' Mojataba Raei, governor of Najafabad said. 

A short video shot with a mobile phone was circulated Monday on social media networks showing a bare-headed woman cycling in front of a mosque.

The long-haired woman, whose head was pixellated, appeared to raise her right arm in the air from time to time as she rode the bike.

New video allegedly from Lekki Toll Gate shooting surfaces with people down with gunshot wounds

A new video shared by @Amosxeasy on twitter claiming to be a scene from the shooting which took place on Tuesday at Lekki Toll Gate, the protest ground of EndSARS protesters, shows some protesters lying on the floor with gunshot wounds.

In the video, people were seen covered in the pool of their own blood, wailing filled the air while a man was heard shouted, ''they are killing my people, why are they are killing my people, ''.

A woman in China has seen her blind date gone horribly wrong after bringing along dozens of her relatives to the romantic occasion to test her companion's generosity, according to local reports.

Abuja Unrest: Victims will be compensated, FCT Minister says

FCT Minister, Muhammad Bello has said that victims of violence in the nation’s capital will be compensated.

Bello spoke on Thursday when he and the Minister of State, Ramatu Aliyu, led an entourage of political, religious, community and traditional leaders on a tour of affected areas.

At the Kabusa Junction and Apo/Waru areas, Bello commiserated with the traders for their losses.

Founder, House on the Rock, Pastor Paul Adefarasin has said Nigerians born and unborn will remember 20-10-20 as a day in which protesting harmless youths were shot by Nigeria’s military.

He described the day as a black Tuesday.

“We cannot erase from the collective memory how the disbelief of a nation turned to shock, horror, heartbreak and unspeakable sorrow as our unarmed children were shot at, injured, maimed and killed, in the course of a peaceful protest. 

“We will not forget how our democracy and our nation was dealt a near-mortal blow by the brute force and deadly violence of our very own soldiers, using the Lekki toll gate as a shooting range and our children as target practice!

Many had said they can't really come to terms with summarizing the President's speech while others understood.

Nigerian singer, Burna Boy early hours of this morning took to Twitter to reveal he hasn't sleep since Tuesday, the 20th of October, when soldiers allegedly opened fire on EndSARS protesters at Lekki Toll Gate. The superstar who says he has seen a lot of violence in his life and has even witnessed death, says this is different.

He says whenever he closes his eyes to sleep all he sees his the Lekki toll gate and admitted it has traumatized him.

Have Lagosians started taking Sanwo Olu for GRANTED?

Let's talk to ourselves. Ever since the protests started across the country, Lagos State Governor Sanwo Olu has been in the forefront of wanting peace and giving a listening ear. He went as far as travelling to Abuja to see the President and table our grievances.

Yesterday, shortly after the President's speech, someone tweeted at the Governor asking if he could summarize all the President said and he replied saying 'I can't'.

Then another person, tweeted at him and asked if the Number one citizen of the State was 'mad'. Well he simply replied 'No'.

But for the intervention of the Austrian police men, the Nigerian Ambassador to Austria, might not have made it alive, and if he ever did, he would have landed at the hospital.

Nigerians in the capital city, Vienna had staged a protest demanding an end to police brutality in Nigeria and wanted answers to why soldiers allegedly opened fire at the Lekki toll gate protest ground on Tuesday.

As the ambassador was spotted, hell was let loose as they tried ti attack him, but the police men were very effective in saving the day. Watch the video below....
