Mentally-challenged man electrocuted while connecting power cable in Ondo

A man identified as Mayomi Origbemisuyi has been electrocuted in Akungba Akoko, in the Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State while connecting a wire on an electric pole.

Punch Metro learnt that the incident happened a few meters away from the office of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company in the community around 9pm on Tuesday.

While a source said the deceased got electrocuted while connecting the wire, another alleged that Origbemisuyi was attempting to make an illegal connection when he met his death.

“Everybody in the area rushed to the scene to catch a glimpse of what happened and the matter was immediately reported at the police station in the community,” a resident, who did not identify himself, said.

The remains of the deceased were reportedly deposited in a morgue in the community.
