Queen spotted in public for first time after hospital stay as she drives in Windsor

The Queen has been spotted out and about for the first time since spending a night in hospital.

She was seen yesterday driving her car around her Windsor estate, the same day she had been due to attend the COP26 climate change summit in Glasgow.

Her Majesty was wearing a head scarf and dark glasses as she sat at the wheel of her green Jaguar that she usually uses to ferry her dogs around in.

On Friday it was revealed that the 95-year-old had cancelled all working visits for the next two weeks and had been advised to stick to “light, desk-based duties”.

It means several of her royal engagements have been cancelled, including the COP26 climate change conference which starts today.

The Queen, who has recently used a walking stick for the first time on royal visits, is recovering after she had tests and spent a night in hospital last month.

Royal aides insisted the Queen is in “good spirits” and stressed her medical team is simply taking “sensible precautions” with its latest advice.

Buckingham Palace said on Friday doctors had advised Her Majesty to “continue to rest for at least the next two weeks”.
