We killed girl, removed her vagina for N500k - Bauchi ritualists

Two suspects arrested in Bauchi over ritual killing of a little girl have been telling the police why they embarked on the dastardly act.

A news website, PRNigeria reported that the suspects, in an audio clip of the interrogation confessed that a marabou (native doctor) contracted them to bring the vagi'na of a little girl for ritual purposes for the sum of N500, 000.

The two suspects, Abdulkadir Wada, 19, and Adamu Abdulrauf, 20, made the confession during their interrogation by officers of the Bauchi State Police Command after they were arrested.

Speaking in Hausa, Wada, the chief culprit, said both he and his accomplice, Abdulrauf, had gone to Kwata, the area where the latter’s elder brother, who is married, is staying.

Court dismisses certificate forgery case against Obaseki

A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed the alleged certificate forgery suit brought against Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and one of its members, Edobor Williams.

Justice Ahmed Mohammed, in a judgment a moment ago, held that the plaintiffs failed to prove their claim that Obaseki forged the academic certificates that he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before the last governorship election in the state.

The judge found as lazy, the attitude of the plaintiffs, who did no make any efforts to cross-check from the University of Ibadan (UI) and the West African Examination Council (WAEC), the two institutions that issued the certificates they claimed Obaseki forged.

Alaafin postpones 50 years coronation anniversary

Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has postponed indefinitely his 50 years coronation anniversary in the aftermath of the ravaging coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

This is contained in a statement he personally signed and issued to newsmen on Saturday.

The oba ascended the throne on Jan. 14, 1971, aged 31.

Oba Adeyemi, who had made adequate arrangement for an elaborate ceremony, said it was important to postpone the event.

Seven feared dead as Amotekun Corps operatives clash with Fulani herdsmen in Oyo community

No fewer than seven people have been confirmed dead after operatives of Amotekun engaged some Fulani herdsmen in Oyo State.

The incident reportedly occurred at Aiyete in Ibarapa North Local government area of the state on Saturday.

Daily post correspondent gathered that men of Oyo State Security Network also known as Amotekun Corps engaged the Fulani herdsmen in a fight.

 The clash started at Okebi village in Aiyete but the cause of the fight was not ascertained as at the time of filing this report.

Nollywood actor, Jim Lawson Maduike is dead

Nollywood actor, Jim Lawson Maduike has reportedly passed away.

According to reports, the veteran actor slept and didn’t wake up the following morning. Another report claims that the Imo state thespian allegedly died after complaining of body pains at around 12 pm on Saturday, January 9, 2020.

Before his death, Maduike was a famous Nollywood actor, radio broadcaster, writer, voice-over artist, filmmaker and a television personality.

He joined the Nollywood movie industry in 2004 and has since acted in more than 150 movies.




Missing Indonesian plane with 62 people on board has likely crashed into the sea - Rescuers

Missing Sriwijaya Air plane with 62 people on board which lost contact after taking off from Indonesia’s capital Jakarta on a domestic flight today is suspected to have been found.

Rescuers said suspected debris had been found in the sea off the city.

The Boeing 737-500, en route to Pontianak in West Kalimantan, disappeared from radar screens after taking off just after 2.30 p.m. (0730 GMT).

Indonesian Transport Minister Budi Karya told a news conference that 62 people had been aboard, including 12 crew. Another official had said earlier there were 56 passengers and six crew.

Two-year-old survives after being driven over twice by a car

A child in Switzerland survived after being driven over twice by a car, police-reported on Saturday.

A driver was moving his car to a different parking spot in the town of Oberentfelden on Friday evening when he ran over the 2-year-old boy on a small balance bike.

When the boy’s mother shouted out at the 53-year-old man, he put the car in reverse and rolled over him a second time, police spokesperson Adrian Bieri told dpa.

The boy sustained bone fractures, but he remained conscious and responsive after the accident, according to the spokesperson.

Soyinka warns about Amotekun becoming another SARS

Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has warned that South-West Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, must not become another Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force.

Soyinka stated this on Saturday, while featuring on Arise TV.

The revered author noted that men of the Amotekun Corps, must be trained on the issue of ethics, so that they do not become more brutal and ruthless than the defunct SARS.

Ondo and Oyo States have launched the security outfit, which was endorsed by six South-West states last year.

Indonesian plane with 50 aboard missing after take-off

An Indonesian Boeing 737-500 plane with 50 people on board has been declared missing minutes after take-off.

The Sriwijaya Air flight lost contact after taking off from Indonesian capital Jakarta on Saturday.

It was on its way to Pontianak in West Kalimantan province. Pontianak is a city on the island of Borneo, part of the Indonesian archipelago.

Sriwijaya Air said it was still gathering more detailed information regarding the flight before it can make any statement.

Reacting to the allegation in a statement late Friday, Moyo Thomas denied the allegations, while insisting that her late husband was the father of her two kids.

It is therefore deliberate falsehood and certainly malicious to allege and insinuate that I informed him that the children are not his. The children still bear his name. Kaduna health commissioner tests positive for COVID-19

Amina Mohammed-Baloni the Kaduna State Commissioner for Health has tested positive for COVID-19.

Mohammed-Baloni made the revelation on social media via her Twitter handle on Friday, in a series of tweets while noting that she has gone into isolation.

She wrote: “Following notification that I have tested positive for COVID-19, I have proceeded into isolation for the necessary treatment,” she said.

“I look forward to quick and complete recovery from this infection.

Nigerian rapper Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael, Zlatan Ibile has been called out by an upcoming artist, Keanzo Abami for allegedly using his song without crediting him 

Taking to Twitter, Keanzo accused the Zanku master of intellectual theft involving the recreation of a song he made in 2019.

“I am a single father trying to erk a living from music, but @zlatan_ibile has decided to take my content without my permission. I sang “My Life” in 2019 and in January 2021, Zlatan is using my intellectual property without reaching out to me. #ZlatanCheatsKeanzo,” he wrote.

Black Saturday in India as fire kills ten newborn babies

It;s a black saturday in India! 

Ten newborn babies died today in a fire at a state-run hospital in western India, officials have said.

There were 17 infants in the unit for sick newborn babies when the fire broke out in the early hours of Saturday at the Bhandara District General Hospital in Maharashtra state.

Seven infants died due to smoke suffocation, and three from burn injuries, Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope told reporters.

Seven babies were rescued by the nurses and ward staff.

President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Producers Association of Nigeria, Bolaji Amusan, aka Mr Latin, has said he was shocked when he heard about the death of veteran actress, Folake Aremu, better known as Orisabunmi, who passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, after a brief illness.

Acting as ‘ritualist’ doesn’t make me one –Kanayo O Kanayo

Kanayo O Kanayo, has made an indelible mark in Nollywood and the story of the film industry cannot be told without according him his pride of place. 

However, the actor has also had to deal with the impression some people have of him as a ‘ritualist’ because he has played the role of an occultist in movies several times.

During the week, Kanayo, who is also a politician, had uploaded a picture on his Instagram page of the hundredth birthday of Ezinne Anyanwu, the mother of an actor, Chika Anyanwu. Nigerian man based in Canada dies on his birthday [photos]

A 47-year-old Nigerian man, Nafike Malafa Bala based in Canada has died on his birthday.

The University of Jos graduate died on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, which happened to be his birthday.

The cause of his death was not mentioned. He is survived by wife, children, mother and siblings. 

Meanwhile, friends have taken to Facebook to mourn his demise.

Trump supporter who broke into US Speaker’s office arrested

Richard Barnett, President Donald Trump’s supporter, who broke into House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office, has been apprehended.

Barnett posed for pictures and stole mail from her desk. He was arrested on Friday in Little Rock, Arkansas, and has been charged with three federal counts.

The charges are entering a restricted building, violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, and stealing public property.

West Virginia state Republican lawmaker Derrick Evans has also been charged with illegal entry.

Twitter also permanently suspends Donald Trump’s account

#Twitter has also permanently suspended United States President Donald Trump’s account due to the risk of further incitement of violence after hundreds of his supporters stormed the US Capitol.

“After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence,” the company said in a statement on Friday.

Social media platforms have come under growing pressure to take further action against Trump in the wake of Wednesday’s riot, where crowds of Trump supporters breached the building amid chaotic scenes in which at least five people died.

Facebook announced on Thursday that Trump would be blocked from using the platform for the remainder of his term.

Body of missing lady found in mortuary in Rivers

Miss Beauty Ngegbarane, a 20-year-old lady who declared missing in Rivers State on Christmas Day has been found dead.

The remains of the lady who reportedly left home to visit one Pastor Side Masodje alleged to be her lover was found at a mortuary in Ahaoda, headquarters of Ahoada East local government area of Rivers State.

The mortuary management said her corpse was brought in on December 26, 2020 as a car accident victim.

It was learnt that the Pastor Masodje who was arrested and detained after the lady was declared missing has been granted bail by the police.

Nigerian Governors to take Covid-19 vaccine on live TV

Many Nigerian governors will be given COVID-19 vaccine on live television to encourage Nigerians to accept the vaccine, an official has said.

Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, who addressed journalists in Abuja after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, said he and his colleagues had accepted to do so.

“Absolutely,” Mr Fayemi answered when asked if governors will also take the vaccines on live television. “We too will like to demonstrate to our citizens that we believe that vaccines would work.”

“Don’t forget, we have a lot of experience on this. Governors Forum managed the polio vaccines administration in the country and we have garnered a lot of experience,” said Mr Fayemi, the chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum.

Federal Government may impose another lockdown if covid-19 cases continue to rise – PTF

The Federal Government has said it will have no option other than to impose a fresh lockdown on the country if the rising cases of Covid-19 infections recorded lately continues.

The National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19, Sani Aliyu, stated this during a briefing in Abuja.

The PTF Coordinator said the rising Covid-19 infections recorded of recent in the country were concerning and might require a fresh lockdown.

Aliyu said, “If these numbers continue to go up and we start having significant deaths, we will have no option. If we do not want to lock down, now is the time to make sure that we follow the non-pharmaceutical interventions.”

Akubuisi Okonkwo has emerged the youngest king in Nigeria.

He was crowned the king of Iyiora Anam kingdom in Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State.

This is coming after the demise of his father, his Royal Highness, Igwe Onyeachonam Okonkwo, the Olame 1 of Iyiora Anam. 

His father also, when emerged the king was the youngest at the time and ruled till he passed on.

Iran bans import of US, UK Covid-19 vaccines over trust

Iran's Supreme Leader on Friday banned the government from importing Covid-19 vaccines from the United States and Britain, labelling the Western powers "untrustworthy", as the infection spreads in the Middle East’s hardest-hit country.

In a live televised speech, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei raised the prospect of the two Western countries, long-time adversaries of the Islamic Republic, possibly seeking to spread the infection to other countries.

He added however that Iran could obtain vaccines "from other reliable places". He gave no details, but China and Russia are both allies of Iran.

NIMC workers to suspend strike and resume on Monday

Workers of the National Identity Management Commission have suspended the industrial action which they embarked upon on Thursday over the fear of Covid-19 spread in the agency.

It was gathered that the workers decided to put the strike on hold after a meeting with the Federal Government, where it was agreed that the demands of the employees would be addressed.

The President, Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, NIMC Unit, Asekokhai Lucky, confirmed the suspension of the strike.

He said workers of the commission across the country were being contacted to resume work by Monday and begin the enrolment of citizens for National Identity Numbers.

I won't attend Biden's inauguration, Donald Trump says

President Donald Trump will not be attending President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration on January 20, he announced in a tweet on Friday morning.

"To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th," Trump said .

Trump is now apparently sent to join a short list of outgoing presidents who've skipped the inaugurations of their successors: John Adams, John Quincy Adams, and Andrew Johnson. He's the first departing president since 1869 to refuse to attend their successor's inauguration.

The president's announcement on Friday came a day after he said there would be an "orderly transition on January 20th," and just two days after he provoked an attempted coup at the US Capitol.


Sick Kenyan man, 35, dies suddenly during s.e.x romp

A woman has been left devastated after her lover who appears to be sick collapsed and died while they were engaged in s.e.x romp.

The Kenyatta National Hospital theatre technician, 35, died at about 11 pm on Wednesday while in the company of his lover at their house in Dandora, Nairobi County, Kenya.

In a police report seen by Mediamax Digital, OB number 03/7/01/2021, the woman informed the Dandora Police Station via a mobile phone call of the lover’s sudden death early Thursday morning.

“[The man] fainted and died instantly while on the act. Police ransacked the house and found assorted drugs and medical reports,” the police report said.

Police officers took his body to the City Mortuary. The case is under investigation.

Allegation against Amotekun under probe, Makinde says

The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has said his administration is probing the alleged high-handedness of some members of the Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Operation Amotekun.

In a statement issued on his official Twitter handle, Makinde promised to address the issue, adding that his administration will not sit back and watch security operatives harass members of the public.

The Governor assured the people of the state that their welfare and security remains a top priority to his administration.

He said, “Following the recent events in Tapa, Ibarapa North Local Government Area, it becomes imperative that I once again reassure the good people of Oyo State that our administration is doing everything in its power to address security issues in our state.

Covid-19: Postpone NIN registration, Ali Baba urges FG

Comedian Ali Baba, on Friday, urged the Federal Government to postpone the National Identification Number registration exercise in order to curb the spread of coronavirus infection amid the second wave of the pandemic.

According to him, whatever purpose the government wants to achieve with the exercise could be achieved later after the pandemic had subsided.

Fraudster injects 92 year-old woman with fake Covid-19 vaccine in UK

A fraudster claiming to work for the NHS injected a 92-year-old woman with a fake Covid-19 vaccine, City of London Police has said.

Detectives are hunting the man who charged the victim in Surbiton, south-west London, £160.

Police said it was "crucial" he was caught as soon as possible as he "may endanger people's lives".

Det Insp Kevin Ives described it as a "disgusting and totally unacceptable assault".
