The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), on Monday, slammed Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over his inability to halt the continuous security challenges in the state.
Recall that youths in Kagoro had blocked roads, in Kaura Local Government area Kaduna State, protesting incessant Gunmen attack, killings and kidnapping in the southern part.
Kaduna state government had imposed a 24 hours curfew.
CAN, led by its Kaduna State, Chapter Chairman, Reverend John Joseph Hayab, in a statement on Monday, said kidnapping, killings and various security challenges keep increasing daily in the state without any positive step taken by the governor to halt it.
He urged El-Rufai and his team to focus on the fight and salvage the state so he can be remembered for good, after leaving office.
He asked, how long, will this evil continue and when will our leaders act dutifully? insisting that Kaduna citizens were tired of the government’s rhetorics without concrete action taken to protect lives and property.
He said Nigerians, want to hear and see the killers and kidnappers arrested as the government’s usual media condemnation whenever there is havoc is not good enough.
Hayab appealed to citizens to also wake up and do the needful by protecting themselves and their communities, saying ”when a government fails to protect you, you ought to find a means of defending yourself”.
He said Kaduna State has lost several lives in the past four years while the leaders scarcely show empathy or concern for the victims seeing that the government’s response is usually in the media.
“Sadly the dead cannot read nor listen to the news. Then of what use is media condemnation”, he asked
The statement called on the Kaduna State Government to swallow her pride and accept that she has failed the people and genuinely seek help to immediately halt the wanton killings, kidnappings, and terrorist activities going on in the state.
